Hello All,

The NorCal HOW team has gathered and decided that our first event for 2017 will be hosted at San Pablo Reservoir on Friday, Feb 24, 2017.  We plan to try and accommodate approximately 20 vets that day. We will be needing some volunteers to take veterans out on the water as well as some to help with shore duty tasks such as carrying kayaks, prepping and cooking food, ensuring vets are rigged up safely with PFDs and rods, etc.

Few rules:
1. No Alcohol allowed at HOW Events
2. If you choose to bring your own kayak, it will be subject to inspection by the lake employees. They can be strict.  Kayaks must be clean and dry, no water at all and no damp seats!  We usually could use a few folks willing to take vets out on our tandems or your own, in addition to guiding.
3. No SUPs allowed on EBMUD lakes. I am not sure whether the Hobie branded inflatable pool toys are subject to the SUP ban or not.
4. Its technically a no water contact lake so just be aware of that. They haven't been too strict on us before though.
5. Please take pictures of the vets, but ask them if they're OK with it first.  Some are not willing to have their picture taken, but those that are usually really appreciate the pictures.

If you think you can help join us, please post in this thread.  If you know of any veterans or active duty military that may want to attend, contact Raydon.  We'll also post up the event details on our FB page at www.facebook.com/NorCalHOW.  Please follow this thread for updates on what we need from you guys as to timing of showing up, cleaning up, etc.

Hi Big Bear, we've got you down to help.  We'll post up here as the event gets closer with further details.  Rob and Raydon will take the lead on that as I won't be able to make it due to other commitments.

It looks like we will have approx. 20 or so vets, counselors, and assistants.  If you can help, please let  us know.

Right now we have maybe 6 volunteers. We could use 5-6 more. If we don't get more help we will be stressed to help everyone that is there with only 6. It will take 2-3 people to cook. That leaves 3-4 to guide 20 vets, 5 each. I would like to see a few more than we have. If you can help please post here to let us know.

Thanks, Rob

Thank you Marv.

Jack is planning on his normal routine I think in the morning. Maybe you two can coordinate?

Good luck gentlemen and have a great outing. I just ran my first big one down here in Texas last week. It was fun but couldn't get on the water.  :smt013 Lots of bass caught with an average of just over two pounds. About 30 people to watch over for me and fix lunches for.
