Do you have any young ones that about 10ft tall?

I wouldn't care so much about what they look like now, as long as there is a stalk or 2 that can be cut back and still have some leaves.  It's what happens over the next 2 years as they fill in.

How deep is the root system on something like that?

Mostly less than a foot, but it is densely interwoven at this point.  But near the edges they get really bunched up and the escapees will dive down the 30" that the barrier goes down and come up the other side.

Can you get a mini-excavator in there? Need explosives? :smt073

Not without tearing up my vegetable garden raised beds.  Explosives would be fun, but not an option.

2-4-5-T & 2-4-D, repeat, repeat . . . .
That's going for it! Agent Orange is no longer legal to use. ATD probably has some CD's by the punk band of the same name that might kill it though.

I'm the Agent Orange fan!

The soundtracks to the two vids in the post below is all Agent Orange.

I can tell you this. Its not easy. How do I KNOW? Because I have eradicated some for a friend. I used the bamboo to decorate my old backyard. Cool stuff. You will end up paying at least minimum 15 an hour. And that's cheap. Whoever takes the task be prepared to make several dump runs and the stuff isn't light. Good luck amigo. You may be better off going to Home depot parking lot and picking up a couple piasas. Sit there and drink beer and keep an eye on them.. May the force be with you. :smt006

Maybe consider a prescribed wildfire - a little gas starter then light it off!   :smt101

How big a plot was it that you eradicated for a friend and how long did it take you?  And yes, I know $15 would be to the low side.  I'd pay more than that.

I thought I'd try here first in case a bro with some time on their hands wanted to earn an honest buck or 2.

I'll Second Sr. Fish master,
That is going to be some brutal work with several runs to the dump.

A few guys would be preferable to one ( I have done it solo, and the demoralization factor is high)

One guy starts by hacking/sawing/macheteing the bamboo to about 3' then 2 guys remove while a third gets busy with a pulaski or a pick, working from outside in.

Good luck Allen,

ALoha,

Isao

The plot was about the same as yours. I ended up getting a winch and tying a rope around several bases at a time and pulling them out like that. Roots plants everything at once. Roots don't run that deep.
