I would love to float the Yuba in a kayak or lower Sac (or American) for a day of fly fishing. Never done any of them and would love company. Anybody interested?  Weekdays work as well as weekends.

Maybe hit the Yuba next Saturday the 11th.  Let me talk to my buddies that guide the river next week and see how the conditions are.  I'll send you a PM by next Wednesday.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

What is this thing you call "work". It's been Stripes and Trout until ocean opens. Valley rivers have been rockin', get some...

Wanted something more challenging than rockfish so floated Hwy 20 bridge to Sycamore solo yesterday. Some salmon on redds, not whole bunch. Epic bite from about 3:30 until dark, big fish.. I pounded them with eggs and other nymphs but all they wanted were eggs. If you can get out in the next week do it. The peak of the bite doesn't last long, I haven't timed it right the last 3 years. With the water so low and clear the fish will probably get wary soon, bring your nymphing A-game, if you only fish dries, pick another time. If you haven't caught a big Yuba bow, you're missing out on the hardest fighting bow in the valley...
March browns at dusk are good now.

Nice, thanks for heads up. Dry fly can be sweet over there, pounding the banks with hoppers should produce too. I took my raft with Rockroach over there about a month ago for some trout/shad action. Trout was slow, we got a few but no bugs out. Shad was a little better below Daguerre.

Sweet work GF!
So do you think a kayak is not feasible on the Yuba?

Kayak on the Yuba is a piece of cake.  Perfect water for it.

I kayak duck hunt the hell out of the Yuba. Easy peasy on a kayak!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

I wet waded between Hammond Grove and a mile upstream on Saturday from about 8 am - 5:30 pm. Water flows were in the high 800 cfs range, and comfortable water temps. No bugs coming off so I swung leeches in the tailouts for no grabs, then switched to nymphs and picked off a few fish throughout the day. Overall, pretty slow. I threw hoppers on the edges but didn't get any cooperation. I saw a few salmon rolling in the first deep hole upstream. There were fresh stone fly shucks on the rocks and what seemed to ready to hatch caddis in the shallow riffles. I wanted to stay for the evening but when I started ignoring the "Where are you?" texts from the Mrs., I knew it was time to pack it up and find a beer before driving home.
