Introductions / Hello from Napa
« on: January 30, 2023, 02:23:26 PM »
Grew up in Marin spending most of my childhood fishing for just about any species from boat, shore and occasionally kayak. Living in Napa now for 10+ years. I make swimbaits and historically I am most often out tossing them for bass in my local lakes on my bass boat (and in the past 2 years on my kayak). I also do a fair bit of surf fishing for perch/striper and crab snaring for dungies.

I purchased an Old Town 120PDL ~1.5 years ago to fish the Napa river for striper (CNR with swimbaits/lures) and the local lakes when I didn't want to tow the boat. Am now finding myself wanting to take the kayak out more than the boat. Less hassle/ maintenance, some exercise and a fun fishing experience in general. I ended up buying a Hobie Lynx which I'm able to carry down the muddy bank of the napa river by my house without a cart (which was quite a pain with the heavier 120pdl). I still have both yaks though.

For 2023 I'm interested in doing some Halibut fishing on the yak and breaking out of my normal routine a bit. I've fished most of the normal SF Bay hali spots in the past from a boat (Paradise, Berkeley Flats, ARW, AI etc). I did some shore fishing in waders over at Point Pinole last year and am curious to try taking my Lynx out there. Pretty quick drive for me and seems protected from the big winds on the NE side. Also curious about launching at various spots in Marin when I'm down visiting family (marin islands, paradise etc).

I'll stop before this gets too long.  :smt003
