 That looks like a good net. Try using it with the full length handle before you cut it down. I find I like to the longer handle so I can keep one end under my armpit for leverage when landing a big fish.

I use EGO S2 XL hoop w/ short handle. It’s a great net for kayak, but never caught Halibut over 40” tho...

+1 on the Ego net. It has a short handle but you could attached a PVC tube extension on it if you need it for leverage.

Totally agree with this - I use the armpit leverage all the time, and there have been plenty of times that I've needed to extend to get my catch in the bag.

I'm surprise Bass Pro doesn't have many wide selection to chose from. The new styles seems too shallow imo.
I scored two old school big nets on CL for a great deal to my liking.
