Sad to say the new models coming out are getting fatter, few look sleek, and most won't need Wheel Eez, they will need forklifts to get them on off your roof racks. Many look they were made for one body of water, perfectly flat water.  Your thoughts brother paddlers?

they sell better.  The manufacturers got it right.

If people would buy sleeker boats, they would make more of them.

West coast is one of the last true bastions of cartopping.  Everyone else is truck beds and trailers now.

In my mind, the wider boats are primarily being made for bass fishermen who want to stand. Some of these kayak bass tournaments are getting huge - seems like a lot of people are getting into the sport.

I think people are generally getting lazier and lazier as the years pass.
They don't want to put in the time or effort to learn a real skill.
How many actually practice getting back on, aka, self rescue?
I don't need to balance Bubba. Lookie, I can lay sideways in it!
I like the sleeker models much better. My Revo is as wide as I want to go.
I liked the Adventure better, it was just that the Revo fit better in the garage.
As far as standing; I can see how some people might like it, but if I want to stand I'll shore fish.

Yeah I bought an Outback a couple yrs ago, & it was too much for me already... as long as they keep making Revo I'm happy!!!

Ever notice the bass selections vs saltwater fishing in like a bass pro?
It’s crazy when you compare the two.

Not for me. Glad the bass crowd has an alternative to traditional bass boat. I still have to think that I could catch as many bass in my narrow 50lb boat as anyone fishing from anyone of those boats.

I predict Hobie will introduce a rotary prop rather than flipper drive model soon. SO much more efficient and functional.

I'm not seeing how a PA clone is the lazy man's boat, as it seems like a ton of work compared to any powerboat.

Is that true?  I was under the impression the mirage was more efficient.  The dealer told me it was 5 to 1 more efficient.  Of course he wanted my money so take it with a grain of salt.  The one upside I see for the Hobie though is when you stop peddling the mirage will cut through water with less resistance than a stopped prop.  At least I think so.  Right?

What makes you think that a prop drive more efficient?

In any case, most Hobies also are designed to sail, and the flippers can act as a mini daggerboard when sailing, whereas a prop would be a drag.
