When I used to practice waterpolo at UOP it was the same time the 49'rs were there. We used the same locker room. Not a football fan.

Then when I got involved with CHAMP car WS had dinner with Paul Newman and his drivers at a pre-race party. I was one of about 30 guests.

I met Wierd Al when came back to Cal Poly and visited his own dorm tower.

Fred Merkel (AMA Superbike) is a friend of my dad.

Chris Carr is another family friend.

Ed Sprague when he came back and visited my high school.

I scrimmaged in waterpolo against Brad Schumacher when he was at UOP.

Played in waterpolo tournament and faced the Australian Olympic team. My club lost.  :smt010

Very cool!  What did you sell him?  Were you able to talk him into a yak? :smt003  Did you tell him about NCKA? :smt044

For what it's worth, when he fumbled in the NFC Championship game against the Giants, he fell a notch in my book.  That fumble cost them the chance to 3-peat.  Oh well, still a hell of a rusher & receiver.

Was your Bonds encounter pre or post roids? :smt005

I was fishing up on the Trinity River (north fork above the lake) and bumped into George Seifert... the then coach of the 49ers.  Got a quick picture and fished with him for about an hour.  I had actually met him at a fish cleaning station in the campground a few days earlier... the spot where we ended up fishing was where I told him to go.  If he had been the coach of the raiders, he would have received no such information.
Never trust a man that doesnt like to fish...

I had lunch with Mike Love from the Beach Boys once.  the was backstage for a concert at Shoreline.

I wept when they played Surfer Girl.

(I'm not kidding.)...or maybe I am.

I used to work at a bagel shop in Wy where 'that guy with the whip" would come in a few times a week. Harrison would always mumble so no one would recognize him...

I played in a celebrity golf tournament in Kansas City with Jim Morrow.

Not that well known, but he was on the olympic hockey team that beat the USSR in the game known as the "miracle on ice" when Al Michaels said the famous phrase "Do you believe in miracles?" Of course they went on to beat finland to win the gold medal.
He them went on to a stanley cup with NY Islanders, who he scouts for to this day.

Awesome guy, great stories and a pretty good golfer.

When I worked as a mail carrier in Los Gatos I delivered special delivery mail to Peggy Fleming several times, once early on a Sunday morning where she signed for the letter in her bathrobe, with a cup of coffee in one hand.  :smt002  I also had Mickey Dolenz's mom on my route, for those of you old enough to recognize that name.  I kept hoping to run into him but never did.

I met Skip Spence from Moby Grape, twice.  1st when I was 15, backstage and the dresing room cause my firlfiend's dad owned Ampeg Amps.  2d was on haight Street 10 years later.  Hewas certifiable, just short of raving mad.  but, he remembered our 1st meeting, who I was with, and what we discussed in the dressing room (a big sign below Pasaiic NJ, saying KEEP OFF DRUGS)

I wept.

Forgot to add one of my greatest heroes Ervin Zador.

My coach would tell stories about watching the greatest game of waterpolo ever. 1956 Hungary vs Russia. The pinnacle of eastern style physical zone waterpolo.

He was one of the rival coaches for waterpolo when I was growing up. I did get the chance to be coached by him for a couple of months in a winter league.
