Hey gang, I'm considering getting a good used Prius. Question is, I have a very steep gravel driveway and am worried a Prius won't make it up the hill. Any advice?

General Talk / Damn noisy frogs!

I've got a pond about the size of a large swimming pool. Deepest point is 12'. The frogs at night are incredibly loud and I want to quiet them. Disturbing the water, (throwing firewood into the pond), quiets them, but you can see there problem with that. I've yet to try coffee grounds around the perimeter. I hear that the coffee irritates their skin, thus making them vamoose.
I don't want to kill them off.
Any ideas? Please?

Hey, I'm thinking of some Thule, or Yakima towers and crossbars for my Tacoma. Any suggestions, and or experience?
I've been browsing some on the 'net and there's a lot of choices. I liked the Yakimas I saw, but was surprised by the $800 price tag. Cheaper choices seemed to have poorer reviews.
I won't be using them for my yak, rather for smaller stuff and maybe attaching things to while truck camping.

At least I think it's a bird. In the middle of the night I hear an eep, eep, eep... for pretty long periods of time, with breaks now and then. It could almost pass for some kind of alarm sound. It's not incredibly loud, though not seems to be in an otherwise quiet forest.
What is it?

I'm free to go this weekend, and the weather looks good for bassin' and crappin', (crappie). I like the state park but wonder if it's too hard to fish due to low water. Any suggestions? I'd be happy just catching crappie!

With the last snowstorm a length of aluminum power cable came down. Is it good for anything? If not for me, maybe for someone else? I originally was going to make dragging cables from it, thinking it was steel.

Got hit by a pretty good storm last week. I was snowed in for 3 days. Many trees down. One of them across my Tacoma hood.
From Willits to Laytonville, trees down all over the place, snapped power poles too.

I want a small handheld GPS. Nothing too fancy. I want to know where I am and how far I've gone. I know where I am most of the time but a week ago I was looking for a wounded animal and got turned around, and it was getting dark. It's amazing how easily one can get lost.
Any experience, suggestions? I looked at the Etrex20 and it seems like what I'm looking for.

General Talk / What could go wrong?

I'm at home, the fuel tanks are all filled, I have food and water. I'm ready for some serious hunkering. I've got lots of land to Juander on and even hunt. Then, in the middle of the night I hear a crash. Usually it's a tree falling over, but this sounded different. In the morning I find out what happened. Why me?
I'm in town today to see if the windshield can be replaced. Wish me luck.

What is your favorite swivel, say for 10 lb test line? I want a swivel that will absolutely keep line twist from happening. Ball bearing?
