With a family of four I need to outfit them with kayaks. The wife and I have Hobie's and I am looking for another used yak for my daughters. So if anyone has a lead on a Hobie Sport or other paddle type let me know. Thanks Frank

Hi FF,

Obviously sir you have impeccable taste. :smt002

We have a 2007 Hobie Sport "Fisherman"  and we love it.   Sorry; not for sale.  I'm a small guy by nature, 5-8 and 120 lbs. and it fits and handles perfectly.   My wife is 5-2 and because the Sports are so adjustable it fits her too.  It is very easy to move, very stable and maneuverable, you gotta love the hand's free aspect, but it's the slowest of the Mirage Hobies.   We are both in our 50's and aren't interested in going fast. :smt002

Also note that we usually only do flat river kayaking.   On the ocean near-shore the mirage pedal drive and rudder get caught in seaweed, so with the drive and the rudder removed it becomes a rather slow bulky paddler.

We're by NO means experienced experts, but have you considered something like a Malibu Mini-X?  We spent a lot of time looking for a used Sport and they seem to sell very fast, so we bit the bullet and bought new.

Whatever the case, best of luck in your search, and by the way, thanks, because I've learned a lot of valuable information from your posts.

I'm assuming that your utilizing Bill's great new "Kayak Finder" page:

Safe and Happy Yaking,
