quick intro and a little about myself.

i am an avid wilderness guy..getting older, getting slower.  staying in shape (well, trying) by mtn biking.  that is until i crashed hard.  hahah..i now find it painful to pull back my hunting bow.  i'll heal.

Moved to Santa Rosa a few years ago, and some of my Construction jobs put me on Hwy1, staring at the beaches.  hmmm..i figured i should rekindle my love of fishing.

2 weeks ago, i went into a fishing store and asked, "okay, what do i need?"  zero research, at the mercy of the salesman.

i now own a salmon/steelhead rod setup..and a fistful of terminal gear.  learned some new terms, like "backing", "top shot".  he showed me a few knots..double uni, the Alberto.

i still dont know jacksquat, but i have taken several surf perch.  to say i am hooked is an understatement.  i bought chest waders..and now searching for a new rod/reel.  i still need to go back and find that fisherman..i forgot what he spooled me up with..hahah.

it's go time.  my good friend is coming up from SoCal to fish with me.  our wives are gonna be...who knows.?  maybe i'll keep a spa day gift card in my backpocket for emergencies.

a few weeks ago..my wife did utter the words, "hey, maybe you should buy a kayak!"

her work reimburses her (up to a certain $amount) towards healthy gear..a kayak qualifies.  ahem.

Love that intro of the evolution of your wife's famous words..."maybe you should get a kayak!"...this community should insure that those words will stay famous... :smt006

My work reimburses a certain amount for wellness...not a lot but I did use it when I purchased my kayak  :fish

Welcome. If you end up needing that spa day for the ladies hit me up and I will ask my wife what we can do for you over here at the Roman spa in Calistoga.
Cheers!
