Its a scam!   :smt005    I don't notice a huge difference between the 4K and my older 1080P TV.

You'll notice no difference unless you view something that is formatted in 4K.  For example; I have a 4K DVD player and have bought several 4K DVD's.  I can view these on my 4K capable TV and I can attest that there is a pretty major difference between that and HD TV most people are familiar with.  HOWEVER: to appreciate the difference you need either a large TV or sit very close.  I have a 70" TV and sit 8' away for the optimal viewing distance.  If you are unsure how close to sit to your TV, just look up the optimal viewing distance.  Here's a chart;

Thanks, Jerry. I bought the Star Wars: Last Jedi movie that was packaged with 4K Ultra HD, Blu Ray, and Digital. I obviously can't view the 4K version until I find a 4K TV on which to view it.

4K is awesome, when you view 4K media... when your getting the basic hd format thru reg TV . That’s what you get... otherwise 4K is still awesome.

I thought it was a scam too...until I watched a show (that I’d already seen on my 1080p) on my dad’s new 4k. And OMG there was a huge difference! Gotham looked so much better than it does on my tv.

It's really kinda hard to go to a theater these days.  Went to see Star Wars and then got the 4K DVD.  HOLY CRAP!  Everything I was missing at the theater now made sense.  The details on the technology at times looked fake though, because the rendering was so crystal clear.  When I watched The Martian, it was like I was there.  Same with Mad Max.  Best was Gravity.  It gave me vertigo on my big screen.  Combined with a 5 channel surround and it blows people away when I demo for them.

YouTube and Amazon now have 4K TV shows.

Big difference maybe time you upgrade your XBox to the 4k version! Netflix in 4k is a huge difference too.

I forgot Netflix.  Some Olympic programming was 4K with Xfinity.  They upgraded my box for free when I called them about how to view that.

I cut the cord with Comcast/Xfinity. They steadily increased prices unannounced. The defining point to separate was when I was told my rate was increasing from $149 to $199 monthly. Now, until I sign up for a service via the internet, I buy DVDs for movies I really want to see and use a digital over-the-air antenna for access to the local stations.

Which brand of TV did you get? I am considering LG's 4K OLED TVs. The current Samsung TV is giving me hints that it wants to die (again). :(

My brother bought the LG OLED TV the same time I bought my LG.  His is 65" and mine is 70".  I can't tell the difference other than deep space scenes but even then, they would need to be side-by-side to tell and they aren't.  I bought mine Black Friday 2016 from Sam's Club for under $900.

My brother got his off Amazon for over $3,000 (3 times what I paid) and it arrived broken.  The replacement arrived broken.  The second replacement arrived broken.  Meanwhile I'm rubbing it in that I picked mine up locally, they had over a dozen on the floor if mine was broken, which it wasn't.

My TV is so cool!  I got a $20 bluetooth keyboard and one of the smart apps on the set is a web browser.  I can do all my internet stuff right on this huge TV.  Facebook, banking, NCKA forum.  So much more too.

For Comcast/ Xfinity, yes they try to creep up the cost.  I call them and tell them I'll go to Sam's or Costco and change over to another carrier.  They always sign me up for another 2 year plan as a new customer, the logic is that the last plan I had isn't available for new customers and the new plan is new to me, so I'm a new customer.  I have the top TV plan, wifi, telephone and they provide the router and 3 cable boxes for under $180 a month.  I set up family accounts on the xfinity website for my kids.  They log on with their computer or even smart phone and cast to their TV and see everything my boxes provide.  I do that when camping if there's wifi available.
