Okay, so I’ve crabbed in bodega harbor quite a bit. If you’re cool w rock crabs then you can have a very productive day. I think I’ve caught one or two baby dungies here and there… but nothing close to a keeper size.

That said it’s super chill, and a very good spot for kids. If you ever wanna meet up happy to show you a couple spots that have always produced for me! Also rock crab crab cakes are delicious!!

I was looking at wind/swell/tides. Ppl use different sites. I like windy for swells and wind and Willy weather for tides. Wind wasn’t terrible (I like to look for 12 and below) and swells were 2 w 3 foot waves at 8ish secs between sets.

If you’re willing to make the drive all the way up I say go to shelter cove. Buttt northern sonoma can be super productive on a good day… good luck out there!

Anyone interested in joining tomorrow? Weather looks nice! Lmk, I’m open to any of them. Just want someone to go with!

I have had best luck jigging up some live anchovies or smelt on a sabiki then drifting with the live bait on a trap rig.

As far as spots to check out, yellow buoy is a good starting place near hog. It’s busy but gauge to see if anyone is catching around there and if not move around.  I know ppl catch them there (I never have though) the north side of hog is good too and then back in the Marshall area. A good place to check where they’re catching them right now is The Lawson’s landing fishing report. Good luck out there. I’ve found tomales to be a very feast or famine type of spot. Mostly famine for me lol….

Birds Cafe for some tasty fish tacos. Don't sleep on the artichoke fritters as well.

Second the birds. Excellent chowder and fish and chips

Anyone know anything about the SharkBanz 2? Seems to be a more affordable option to the shark shield. Although it seems they only make the ankle bracelets, I think you could hang one or a couple off the side of the boat?

Dont waste your money on this. It was my first option when I was searching for a shark deterrent options. After some encounters. But if search enough you’ll find it dont work at all.

Good to know. Thanks for the info!

Other Kayaks / Scuba/diving kayaks?
« on: July 20, 2021, 08:04:11 AM »
Been a while since I’ve been back on the board. Was scrolling through Craigslist the other night and saw quite a few cheaper diving/scuba kayaks.

My question for the group is are they good to fish off of? If so, how do they paddle? The storage capabilities are really what’s so intriguing. And apparently they’re very sturdy and buoyant. I’ve never dove and know nothing about these kayaks so any info would help here. Thanks!

Hey ya'll

Gonna hit up Lake Berryessa in the wee hours of the morning launching from the Pope creek day use area and fishing all around for some bass.

If anyone wants to join hmu! I'll be in the sand dune 2019 Outback.

Good luck out there, report back! I was just thinking I need to make a trip up for some bass... Sweeny's in Napa just did a video the other day about bass lures in May to think about using. Wish I could make it out this weekend, I'll have to catch you on the next time out!

Thanks for the report. At least no skunk! Bites only going to get better as it warms up more!
