Anyone going to Fort Ross? I have to try it... haven't got my new wheels delivered yet; so I'm going to use my broke ones. Once you get to the beach can you drag a kayak on it easy? Is it really sandy or is it rocky like Stillwater North?

You can lug all your gear down to the beach. It's not that bad. Weather is looking nasty this weekend, though. Definitely not a weekend to be going out by yourself. West swells are going to be pounding the coast, as well.

If you do go out be careful!

A 13' W swell would probably have you puking if you could get out past the surf. It would crush you coming back in. I know some people do it but they are very experienced. I've done it and did not enjoy it.

S wind 10 to 15 kt...becoming NW 5 to 10 kt. Wind waves 3 ft. W swell 13 ft. Rain.

I've only been to the fort 4 times now, and the launch and return isn't bad at all.  Probably depends on the day and swell though, first time i was there the breaking waves were maybe 2.5'  punched through just fine.  Unfortunately my water bottle and scupper plug weren't secured and wahed over.  I hesitated deciding to get em or not and got turned sideways, i made it out just fine, but wet and stayed on the yak.  Last 3 times not prob, just time it right on the way in and launch and you'll be fine, unless the swell is way up.  Guess on a nice day i would give it a 3/4 at the highest.

I wanted to go to FR also this Saturday and I was going to post a hookup but
after doing my research on the weather and swell report, that is way out of
my league. Please be careful out there if anyone is still planning on going.
