I've manage to just about destroy a marine radio a friend gave me, it just couldn't take being upside down in the surf.  I need to get a truly submersible radio that will fit nicely in my PFD and hopefully not hurt my wallet too bad.

I can't think of a better place to ask for experienced advice.  Any do's or don'ts will be appreciated.

Does anyone have an ICOM M32?  West Marine now has an Lithium ion rechargeable version of it.  (M32LI)

I have been thinking about this one...  I have zero experience with handhelds, though, so I am of little help otherwise, Pete...

I have the ICOM M72, and I love it. It's a little pricey, though, but I found it on-line for $175 and West Marine price matched it.

Thanks guys.  Went to West Marine to do a hands on and ended up with their WM150 for $150.  It came with rechargable batteries, a carrier for disposable batteries, AC charger and 12V charger.  A bit more in girth than I had in mind but plenty small enough for the PFD pocket, I can return it if I don't "love" it and 3 year warranty is handled at WM.  Hope I get the chance to use it this weekend!
