Thanks Jason, I was thinking they'd make a great loaner or back up rod.

Welcome aboard Dan. There are a lot of us from Sacramento and the surrounding area. I have met and fished with several of them. All great people. Then there's the coastal/ bay area people. A few are ok, but you know bay area people!  :smt044 After you get 10 posts in you will have access to the members only boards and a lot more info.

Glad to see folks are excited about the change, would anyone be willing to share why they are happy about the change?
Thanks,

Isao

Here's how I see it. They have considered this many years now. As I understand it, they were concerned about their yearly budget. Having most angers purchase their licenses at the beginning of the year made it easier for them to plan the budget. That's a valid point. But I'm thinking that 98% of the people that bought licenses last year will do it again in the coming year. So the money will be there, just not in one lump sum. I think in the end having a calendar year license will increase their money flow. Over the years I have talked with many people on the bank, boat or kayaks that see me catch fish, ask questions and want to join the fun. However, when you tell them that it's $50+ for the license and it's July or October they pass because its to expensive for only a few months. Having a calendar year license will change that, equaling more revenue for their yearly budget.

General Talk / CDFW to Begin Offering 365-day Fishing Licenses for 2023
« on: October 10, 2022, 08:54:44 AM »
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) will begin selling 365-day fishing licenses far sooner than expected, thanks to extensive efforts by staff to expedite sales. Beginning November 15, 2022, California anglers will be able to purchase a 2023 fishing license that will take effect on January 1, 2023, and last the entire year. All licenses purchased on or after January 1, 2023, will be effective from the date of purchase for a continuous 365 days. About frikin' time!

I'm in need of a down rigger. Hoping that someone out there has an extra laying around that they'd be willing to part with.

Welcome tje79. Check out the Hook ups section to see who's doing what, where, when. Also, feel free to post your own open invites to places you're planning to fish.  I've met a bunch of great people doing just that.

General Talk / Re: FUNNY STUFF......

If the player ate your tape and half of it pulled off the spool and wrinkled, you used the pic pen.  Inserting it in the spool to wind the tape back in. Easy- peasy.
Now 8 tracks were a different story. They were an absolute bitch to rewind. Usually just tossed them!

Gearing Up and Rigging Up / Re: Garmin Striker 4 FF question...
« on: August 17, 2022, 12:54:51 PM »
Seems like a set screw or something could have been added make sure it's firmly in place once seated.

Now you got me thinkin Al. How about epoxying a small bolt to the back of the striker and drill a matching hole on the mount. Then just add a wing nut for security? Gonna play with this idea tonight.

Great idea Brian, Thanks. Mine has been solid but a little insurance never hurts.
