One of the nicest cabezon I've ever seen come out of Shelter Cove - very near the top of the list at 26"+ and over 13 pounds.

Couldn't come for a nicer guy.  Nice work, Yaady.   :smt001

General Fishing Tips / Re: Kayak Salmon Fishing 101 ?

Keys to salmon fishing:  forgo other opportunities for easier bites, like rockfish; increase your odds of success however you can, because even well prepared experts get skunked in salmon fishing; become obsessed with the pursuit.

Michael gives good advice - follow what the powerboat fleet is doing, and that includes closely monitoring the radio on the channel that is used by your local powerboat fleet.

Be ready - fish barbless all the time, have a big net, and prepare to be eyed and flipped off by the smartest fish on our coastline.

3 hours is worth it.

Best of luck~

Thanks for the advice, fellas.  I guess I have to go "advanced" and get a volt meter.   :smt005

I don't think I'm a luddite - just lazy.

Hey - I have the Noco Genius G750 charger, and it's been great for years.  I've gone through a number of 12V/9ah lead brick batteries over the years - figured they can only take so many charges.  Now though it seems that all of my half dozen or so lead bricks will charge for a bit with the orange light slowly flashing, and then it'll go to error mode - alternating the orange a red light below it.  When I plug the batteries in to my FF everything works.  What's up with not getting the green light on my charger that should indicate full charge?  Did the Genius finally go bad?  I've seen links for resetting a charger's memory, but I can't find info on why that would be done - could it be what I need?

Thanks for any hive help that's available.  First World problems, right?!

Welcome to NCKA, Stephen.

How's the OT PDL for diving out of?  I like my X-Factors for diving and fishing.

Hit me up if you want an accelerated training timeline.

Enjoy~   :smt001

Welcome!  Beautiful salmon!

I recommend getting on a hard-shelled boat to fish offshore - I think you'll find that it's the way.

Best of luck.   :smt001

What a sacred spot.  I first went there over 30 years ago with my dad - he was surfing, and I was hanging out on the beach.  That day a small dory with three guys in it capsized in the fog near Deadman's.  The surfers got them in to shore, and they were totally hypothermic and needed assistance.  In later years I took an old high school buddy ab diving at Deadman's - not known for abs, it did have some.  We left them alone.  Now that entire area is a great all around fishery in the summer, and I've had guests catch as many or more nice fish right in there than I have.

It will be cool if a surfing interested person purchases it and officially preserves that access and conscientious use.

Salmon fishing is the pinnacle of the Madness for many of us.  Thanks for the report - good luck out there.   :smt001

I've had great performance from multiple Cobra models over the years - as well as Standard Horizon and Uniden.

Redundancy is more important than the brand, IMO.
