Approx 35 feet but not sure I'd be comfortable with you or anyone else shooting in my pool. Nothing personal :smt001
no problem , I need one that is at least 50' or 60' minum, for what I need to do . Other than a public pool it's really hard to find one that long

SilentHunter, Congrats on your first speared fish, nice head shot. Kudos to you Antonio for training him up to be safe and responsible. I look forward to more reports and vids.

Dusted off Mr. Limpet again for another round of spearfishing practice in my pool.

This time it's Lucas AKA Baja Ninja perforating Mr. Limpet instead of Silent Hunter.

It's been about 2 years since Lucas' last attempt at spearfishing when he was 10 or 11.
At that time he said he wasn't very interested and that he would prefer to kayak fish instead.

I told him that was cool and if he ever changed his mind we could train when he was ready.

So, yesterday he got suited up in Silent Hunters old open cell and did some pool training and then I let him get a few shots into the target.

He had a lot of fun and the plan is to have another training session next weekend.

Hopefully he gets into it and if not he'll still be my kayak fishing buddy  :smt007

:smt044 yes having the pool is definitely advantageous when it comes to the training.

Great stuff! And in a pinch, can't go wrong with a pole spear. Fast reload, pretty intuitive!

I think using a speargun is a lot easier than a pole spear especially when free diving. It's just a matter of pointing and shooting. With a pole spear you have to load it and keep it under tension.

I would agree with a typical spear, but I wrapped mine with parachord and self vulcanizing tape near where your hand would be when under load and you don't even really need to use your hand muscles to hold it, the friction of the ridges (...waiting for joke to be made... :smt044) just kind of keeps it there. another option if he wants to try it out (or borrow mine)! Also, having the paralyzer tip with barbs is really helpful to keep the fish on.

Thanks but we'll stick to rail guns. So far the teaching technique and process seems to be working.
