If you haven't attended a past GS event but you are someone I know please just PM me about it, and I'll sponsor you.  Craig's offer to sponsor anyone is a kind gesture, but what we're looking out for is people who don't know about safety or the culture of the club - so watch out for being too eager to help just anyone into the tournament.  If someone shows the initiative to join NCKA and get to know us well enough to clearly deserve sponsoring, which should not be hard, then "getting in" to the tournament will be easy enough while also providing some level of assurance that we don't have people to babysit or people who don't espouse the values of the club.   :smt001

Eric, can the vid for the release be as simple as a video on my digital camera that you can see at the weigh-in?

That's exactly it, Craig.  I am considering planning to have the ability to download videos to a laptop at the launch, but just viewing them on your camera will be sufficient.  There will be an element required, and I'll announce that Friday evening.  (Like yelling "Banzai!" on the video, or something...   :smt003)

I'll hold off for a few pages before putting up enticing photos of the best of the Cove.  For now, here's some pics from a week ago.  I had to go down there for a business contact, so I swung through the launch area and saw how hammered it can be in the dead of winter on a stormy day!  We'll hope for better.   :smt001

I have missed this the last few years but this year I'd like to attend.
How does one go about finding a sponsor that has been to GS?

James

I'll sponsor you and you can fish with me if you wish or not.  :smt044 Dont miss the long range AI recon prefish also and bring crab and salmon trolling stuff.

Like the sponsorship idea!
Is that going to be the norm for events from now on?

I've attended several other past events, just not a GS event.   That means I still need a sponsor, right?

Thank you again for all the work involved with this event. I will have the check in the mail after the first of the year. This place is freaking awesome and we can't wait to go! Funny thing is my wife wanted it to be on Mothers Day!

The Tides Inn moved everybody to the correct dates???

I think so, but everyone better double-check.  Last I heard it was all full but one small room downstairs.

Still need a sponsor, skipro3, but it shouldn't be a challenge if you've attended other events.

OlySpec - your clubmates at NWKA who are NCKA can sponsor you, or you can appeal to any other NCKA members who have attended past GS events.

Good question!  I think it's a good thing and it doesn't make it too difficult to attend.  Just looking for a little assurance that we don't end up with people on the water or at the party who don't know about safety, the culture of the club, how to conduct themselves around families and a diverse group of respectful people...etc.   :smt001

OlySpec,
I'll be happy to sponsor you and I'm sure my fellow Loose Screws who fished the ORC with me last year will sponsor any of the other NWKA guys who attend this year's GS.
