Looks like an olive to me but they can be hard to tell apart from yellowtail especially dead.

Looks like a big grass rockfish to me, especially that head shape.

That big rf looks like a grassy to me too...caught one at the cape last year, let it go cuz i couldnt make a positive id. Hear theyre good eating too. Nice stringer
-
It definitely had a big head and a tall body, not a streamlined fish at all. Nice whitish flesh on the fillets.
fillets..what ! you don`t eat the whole thing ? what a waste SMH ... :smt009 :smt002

It's a grass rockfish, and they taste spectacular.

VK, in my defense, I did cut the collars out, which will go to the grill with the ling collars. It was too big to get in the steamer or in the wok! Plus those filets look sooooo good.
Acceptable ! my maternal Grandparents, GGP, Great Uncles etc etc, were all fishermen / boat builders from Riva Trigoso ,Italy and I`m married to a Chinese woman ..we eat it all ..LOL

Yup, it's a grassy.

No idea they got that big. Nice fish.

Looks like a fat Grassie.

Hella grassy, that's my lucky (can catch it from shore sometimes) fish right there.
Really good eating!
