Chuck finally got his wish this morning, his last day here, and on his birthday none the less.  We got to the zone, with Chuck and Freddie about 50 yards ahead of me.  I watched Chuck put out a bait and go bendo before I even got there.

Chuck has been SOOOOooo close on good fish so many times this trip he was trying not to get too happy.  I was singing happy birthday to him on the radio and he kept replying that he thought that it was just another needlefish.  Then it ran straight for the bottom...not a needle.  Chuck was then saying it was another toro...but I could see the tail beats...toro just pull hard the whole time.

Chuck finally got it to color and it was his birthday present...a nice fat 20# YFT...Ahi baby.  :smt007  I hung out with Chuck to get a pic for him, and he did everything possible to get this fish to the boat.  After a nice 30 minute tussle, Chuck finally got his tuna and it was a beauty.  I'll have to post pics when I return, no way to get them off of the camera at this time.  I imagine Hobie will happy with all of the sweet fish pics we got this trip. It was a joy to return the pic honors after his awesome work with my big rooster.  We had a moment and then Chuck pedaled for the Ranch with a HUGE grin on his face.  Mission accoplished.

Freddie had a few nice toro, a skipjack, and a pompano today before they left.  I was king of the needles today.  Just me and Jelly left now  :smt009  Gonna miss having the boyz around.

Stay tuned!

Please stop posting these baja fishing report.   You guys are gonna make me look bad when I post my picture tomorrow with a 12 inch Greenling :smt001.  Just remember you guys are in fishing heaven right now.  When I came back from East Cape two years ago, I suffered from what you call "Post Baja Syndrome", I lost interest in all fishing for about a month....no may be two weeks  :smt009 I was in serious depression.  After catching all the fish I ever wanted to catch.  "The thrill is gone."   Just some tip, the way I kept myself from hooking up to those poorman's marlin (needlefish)was I trolled with a 3-4 oz wt. instead of right on the surface.  By the way, Happy Birthday Chuck  :smt001.  What better present can you ask for.

SteveS-

It's always easier to ask for forgivness than for permission... GO FOR IT MAN!!! But, I'm divorced... so, what do I know... I know one thing though... you get yourself down to the ranch and you'll have a blast.

Jelly-

Nice job on your ahi. I'm sure that was a blast to boat. Good going.

Chuckster was pretty much the tailor of the ranch all week long. He brought in so many needles it was ridiculous. But, he was and still is Clutch. Bottom of the ninth, two outs... BAM!!! Home run baby! That was a trip maker for sure. It was great.

More to come later,

Freddie

Sean, THANK YOU so much for sharing that unbelievable day with me.... and for taking those on-the-water pics.  I can't wait to see'em when you get back.

Having Sean there with his East Cape experience made all difference in keeping me from losing this one.  As I pedalled back in with my tuna down the hatch, I practically had to pinch myself to see if it was all just a dream.  Catching a yellowfin tuna off my kayak was my big goal at the ranch, and to do so on my birthday and on the very last morning, just made my whole entire trip!
