And of course, I managed to get snagged. Well I tension up the line real good, and sure enough, the lure (A 501 SuperDuper) comes loose and flies on back.

I have a ton of injuries that start off just like that.   :smt001

The levee behind the docks our houseboat was berthed at are lined with trees/shrubs etc..., on the flood tide the bass would get way back into the stuff (less than a foot of water) to feed on the sunning bluegills. I'm walking up and down the dock looking for surface finning and boils and finally hear one about 20 feet away.  I run down there and fire my surface popper right into the tangle of tree branches, I get nailed on the first twitch but no take...by this time the adrenalin is pumping and I'm getting anxious. Second cast same thing, boil no take.  By this time my heart was thumping good, I line up for a third cast and send the popper right into a branch and bury the treble right into the limb.  Normally I'd just grab our 8' tender and row over to the trees to get my lure back but this time I didn't want to spook the fish.  Like a genius I aim my rod at the snag, reel my line up tight and pull hard trying to break the line.  The rest all occurred in slow motion.....the bark my lure was stuck in popped free and the popper line drived its way right back to me.  I literally seen this thing coming straight at me but wasn't able to move....till it hit me square in the nuts, at that point I just fell down on the dock.  Luckily the hooks didn't penetrate my jeans but that hit knocked the wind out of me bad....I laid on the dock for a good half hour barely able to breathe.

I've witnessed a couple good ones too.  Seen a guy fall out of his bass boat into a thorny blackberry bush while trying to get his jig out.  Watched a party boat newb catch his 1 lb. hexbar coming over the rail with his face....guy was crazy drunk so I don't think he felt it till the next day.  In Monterrey a very large gentleman slipped off the ladder while loading onto a party boat and fell in the water.  He got pinned between the boat and pilings and scraped up bad from clinging to the barnacle covered pilings.....that one was actually pretty scary.

Best one I heard of was on another forum...  The guy walked in from fishing the beach with his plug in hand, only to find unexpected guests at the house.  While he was distracted his dog ran over to say hi and somehow they both got hooked good on the plug.  Imagine the dog running all over yelping, and him running behind trying to keep up, knocking people outta the way, noone knows what's going on...  quite scene I imagine!

A 7/0 hook through the fleshy part of my hand when taking out a tangle for a boat rookie. She dropped her weight and it went right in. I had to push it all the way through and cut the barb.

Also a size 22 dry fly in the back. Darn wind caught my back cast and I snagged myself.  :smt003 had my friend, who is a paramedic, use a hemostat and quickly remove it with no problem thanks to the hook being barbless.
