Nice man, you are in the lead. I should get the leader board back up pretty soon.

I did some comparison work with a digital Berkeley scale and it showed that my old spring scale is consistently a pound or so light, so I claim 24#!  That should make it clean for Brian, but I am certainly not claiming to be beyond any questioning.  I hope the look and length of the fish speaks for itself.

Did anyone ever answer the question that surfaced a few weeks ago:  can someone catch, weigh, photo, and release a ling all the way up 'til 12/31 and be included in the pool?

No catching fish out of season. I boils down to the DFG reg. that states no targeting or harassing fish that are out of season.

Sounds good--not just because it's good for me! :smt004--thanks for the response on that.  That's how it should be.

I posted on the fishing reports board that I will put photos on tomorrow of the scale comparison, so there should be no question about it.  There are a few responses on that board that indicate that it's not clear enough, and I only want credit if those people are happy with the photos of the comparison.

Ah Bill has spoken, I can relax now.

AbKing congrats on being the new leader.  I didn't mean to make you spend the night calibrating your old scale, it's just that the scientist in me couldn't keep quite about how close it was with regards to potential discrepancies in instrument accuracy.   My PWAF ("pregnant wife approval factor") would have potentially increased if I had retained the lead, but I think I can make up for it by catching her some more dungeness this season.

Anyway, I'm more than glad to pass the lead off to a fellow "north of the golden gate" norcal kayak angler.  I don't think I would have been able to bare it if Joel or some other "southie" took the lead with a HMB ling  :smt002
