Saw this on FB today, anyone know whats going on?

I don't think anyone on our site has a relationship to Malibu except for maybe the dealers. I would say if it is true I would not be overly surprised.
-
I think Cobra is also having issues, although nothing as dramatic. Too much competition - or - poor marketing strategies ?
-
I spoke with Malibu rep today - the rumor comfirmed :(
their warehouse is empty, they do not have their production line right now. Rep. told me that we might see some clarification in 2 weeks.
hard week at work ended with bad news that already awaited for 5 weeks XF maybe just my dream (i cannot easily switch to another dealer). may look to OK alternative in reasonable price range with "big guy" capacity

So sorry man :smt010 I know how it is when you get your heart set on something!
-
..... in todays news, resale value if Malibu Kayaks soars!
-
That sucks, I have owned 2 malibus and they are great boats.
-
.... and one of JBakers boats is mine now ... all mine! moohaaaa :smt044
-
Well, they have at least one phone left in the office and a worker to answer it.

I just found Yak Shack post on FB
https://www.facebook.com/YakShackLLC (https://www.facebook.com/YakShackLLC)
"Malibu kayaks will be back online for production in a couple of weeks is what we have been told by Malibu staff yesterday. We will post more information when they get everything running again. This is great news for a great kayak company."
-
From what I've heard by one of their old reps, the molds and everything have been returned. Time will tell how big of a setback this becomes.
-
hmmm. The two kayaks I'm currently considering for my first new purchase were a stealth 12 and a trident 13. Kind of make me lean towards the OK, but I really do like the close in storage on the stealth.....
-
I called Malubu Kayaks on Friday.
the rep told me that likely production will be resumed this week :)
-
Weird, their website seems to be down atm.
EDIT: scratch that, seems to be working now.
-
I went over to FB yesterday with Coho Joe to pick up his new mini-x at Sub-Surface and heard there was a fallout in MK owners' group. Also that it looked probable/hopeful that production would resume within a couple weeks.
Joe sold a Frenzy and a Lanai at his garage sale last weekend to add another mini to his quiver. Poor guy is down to four boats now. B*stard!

Have you looked at the x13's?

I spoke with Malibu rep. - this week they are teasting molds and likely after 4th of July production will be resumed :))))

A little note from Malibu Kayaks from https://www.facebook.com/YakShackLLC (https://www.facebook.com/YakShackLLC)
Dear Malibu Kayaks Dealer

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to each of you for the support and courtesies you have shown us in the last few weeks. We understand that this unexpected event not only affected our team but seriously impacted several of our dealers as well . We also wanted to advise you that Sean Caples in no longer affiliated with Malibu Kayaks, LLC or Crack of Dawn Paddlesports LLC. Rest assured this internal change will in no way effect our ability to meet your needs or impact the viability of the company.

Anymore news from Malibu? It seems weird that they don't even have a current website up. The one I can find does not even have the 2012 boats on it? I can find em for sale on some sites but, don't know the age of their products.
I am really taking a hard look at an X-13 as an option if I can find one to demo. Was concerned two years ago about their build quality and business model but, was looking like they were working it out.
