All,

I am interested in getting a count for the MBF.

I am going to bring the fixins for tacos:

Fryer
Oil
Tortillas
Cabbage
Hot Sauce.

I have used my dictatorial powers to change the start time of fishing to 6:30am.  Stop time at 12:30

We will meet and deal at 6 and fish at 6:30.

Real basic, just see me and toss in your cash.  There will be a written record for the paranoid  :smt002

Hopefully we won't have to swim in our own sweat...

I just picked up a digi berkeley fish scale so all fish will be weighed on that scale.

Chime in if your showing up.

Oh, and  bring a plastic cup for the shared refreshments...  :smt001

Hey Molbasser...

I will be there with my 18 year old son on a yellow Malibu 2XL. We will both be entering the contest. My wife and I fished Lexington last week and did OK. The bass were suspended at 10-15 feet with some on the bottom. Not much action on the top. A few questions...

What would you like me to bring?

The parking lot wasn't opened until 8:00 AM last Thursday. Should we park across the street?

Thanks! Scott

I will contact the parks dept. about the parking lot.

If it is scheduled to be opened at 8, we will push the time back.

I don't want people to have to worry about street parking and hauling yaks.

Hi, I just joined the club and am interested in fishing in the tournament at Lexington on Sat.  :smt003 Is there anything special I need to know? What baits are allowed? Can trolling motors be used? etc. Can I bring anything for lunch? I'll happily bring some brew :smt006. Thanks

No live bait.

No trolling motors, human powered only.

Brew on the down low and cans only.

PM me.  I will post complete details tomorrow night.  I have had to deal with my wifes overheated car the last day or so.

Checked Santa Clara County Parks Regulations: alcoholic beverages allowed in picnic areas only. But they are allowed. As long as we are in a picnic area down by the launch site we're clear.

When you check the gate time you might confirm just to be sure. I think still cans-only is a good policy to avoid broken glass.
Heck, MB, you are dealing with your wife's car _and_ rigging a new kayak. I'll get in touch with SC Parks and post tomorrow for a gate opening time.
I have this funny feeling its 0800 until half-hour before sunset though. I'll set teh start at teh earliest openign time we can get.

If its 0800 that will please some but not me--this hot weather will have the Bass sluggish and deep not long into the morning. Hmmm...Sunfish and Crappie tacos might not be bad as a backup :smt001

Marmot,

Yo, thanks man, we will confirm the time together.  Wifes car seems like it has issues.  We just had the coolent system flushed at the dealership, but her radiator/cooling system leaked on her trip.  She was able to limp home adding water to the radiator, but the system clearly leaks now.  We are taking back to the shop tomorrow morning.

If it is 8am, that would sort of suck for fishing, but not really.  You just need to go deeper.  Probably miss the morning topwater bite though.

If it is 8, we will start fishing officially at 8:30, but in reality I don't care that much.  Get on the water and fish.

More important is the end time, which will be 2pm if gate opens at 8.

Good to hear that beer is completely frowned upon  :smt002

This is happening this Saturday 29Th?  If so, count me in! Never fished there so could you give me direction to the meeting place. Comming from San Jose I know to take HWY 17 towards SC, just need to know what exit to take.

Whats the buy-In

Yes this saturday the 29th.

Buy in is 10 dollars.

Coming from San Jose, go 17 south and exit on alma bridge road and head over the dam.  the parking lot is over the dam on the right.  We will meet in the lot.  There is a road down to the launch ramp for those without wheels.

The parking lot is right where the road dips near that arm on the other side of the dam.  The dam is right where the road label is off the freeway to the right in the picture.

Here is a satellite shot.  You can see the parking lot to the right of the dam.

Don't worry, the lake is full right now unlike this shot.  (hint, google maps will give you a sat pic of the lake low to look for structure, hint)

Thanks surfingmarmot!

I will gladly leave it to you.  I have to get the wifes car to the shop, and mount that ever important transducer so all the goop has time to cure properly before she floats!

The goal is to eat fresh fish, and I am going to bring my fryer and taco fixin's.

Bring what you like to compliment the fish tacos.  From all I have heard the bass bite is pretty decent right now.  Smaller grade of fish but they are biting.

For crappie, just look for brush near areas where shad will be present.  I drift/troll Kalin's triple threat jigs.  When you find them, they will bite, you just need to find them.  We can chat at length about crappie at the lake.

BTW, for the url..... Use this syntax where you use a [ where I have used {

{url=REALLY FREAKING LONG URL THAT ANNOYS EVERYONE}appropriate name{/url}

What will appear is a clickable "appropriate name"

I'll pick up some of those jigs at Fisherman's Supply this week. We are allowed two hooks in fresh water right--so I can do a tandem (dropper)?
I'll bring some beer and a side as well. Will check out Google Maps and Google Earth for recon photos of key Bass holding areas. I believe we can get coordinates to plug into the GPS from Google earth...oops, did I say that?  :smt105
