I'm down in Monterey area all weekend. I wouldn't mind taking an extra day of if you don't mind company. I heard lots of good things about fishing that area from ChuckE. I would like to try it with some guidance!

I'm in for Monday. With the outrageous gas prices, JTF and I will be carpooling since he lives nearby.
Martin "yakuza" & Alex "alien"... you two Southbay guys might be able to set-up a carpool save on gas.
Chris... did you check with Colm?
I'm just hoping weather and conditions will allow us to get out there. I've been looking forward to this rockfish opener (south of Pt. Lopez).

Right ON!!! A Monday of fishing down in the Big Sure area.
I would like to carpool but I will be already down in Seaside Friday night after work...Going fishing on Saturday AM. Launching out by the Monterey Bay Kayak, depending on marine conditions.
ChuckE, I'll call you for more details on your plan or ETA in Monterey....

Hey, Folks
Have fun! I hope I can join you.
Please post tips in the report. As you know, we as a group are going down there on May-6 weekend.
ChuckE & Alex -
please mark some spots. I will PM you for GPS coordinates for the group if you don't mind.
Eric
-
no one really uses gps coords there, they just look at their fish finders till they see fish and then bombs away! :smt005
-
I would like to join you folks, if possible. I've never been down that way, so can you please give me an exact location for the meeting spot? For instance, are you meeting at Limekiln or Mill Creek, or are they the same thing? Also, what time?
Cheers, Sean

hey Sean (blondstallion) :smt006

Steve and others,
Please keep me posed about this trip and the swell. I'm down that direction this weekend for an engagement party, so it would be cool to ditch work on Monday and fish the opener.
Later, Sean

Hey, everyone - I am interested. Is the game still on? I would like to carpool from the south bay and share the gas cost. Anyone has a truck that can hold 2 yaks? Thanks.
-
weather looks bad. :smt011 wind and swell. wed looks better
-
I'm bailing on tomorrow's opener. Waiting it out until better weather midweek, and then there's always saturday!! If anyone is interested midweek on splitting gas, shoot me a PM.
Martin
-
we rescheduled for wed. but i already have a passenger.
-
yep, thank goodness for technology when gas costs 3.25 a gallon, nothing worse than burning a day off for some rough conditions. (http://www.hps.com/~tpg/vac/southafrica/stormriver/surf3.jpg)
oh, forgot to mention, the kelp bed just 50 yards offshore is an exceptional spot for rock fish also. :smt003 jtf..

9.8 ft at 12 sec, 19.4 kts of wind gusts to 23.3 kts at the san martin buoy today!!
-
Pat's on the road today and called to let me know she heard on the radio there was a rockslide on Hwy 1 at/near Limekiln.
No other details, but it would be prudent to check it out before heading that way.
Randy
-
Randy, thanks for the heads-up. I'll check road conditions before I go.
It was wise for everyone to cancel today. It's never fun to go rock fishing in those conditions. The swell seems to put off the bite, plus with the wind, it's hard to fish a spot and keep from snagging. No fun at all.
-
Is this trip still on for wed??????? Kayak not sold yet, I'm gonna try and squeeze one more trip outta her.
-
wind is down to 7.8knts at san martin buoy, IT'S ON!!! :smt003
