Those are great pics! I can't believe they kept paddling in with their rods out like that, must be a SoCal thing :smt005
I wonder how many busted rods there were that day?
The guy in the first pic totally looks like he's going to make it but then...
Fun thread.

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I certainly feel better,

I don't understand the rods in the air unless each one of them figured they were more skilled than the rest, I did the full blown yard sale and snapped a rod one time, and that sand filled reel will never be the same, now I don't care how smooth it looks, everything gets stowed.

Great pics for sure

Hi all.  Somewhat new here, but this is one area that I can certainly contribute.

The wave...

The hit...

The spill...

The result...

I'm usually the last one through the surf after helping my friends.  Somehow I made it through this wave.  I did lose my net though.  The funny thing about this one is that when I made it though, my buddy got so excited he jumped up and fell out of his boat.

The pictures were taken at Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara.  That trip was especially brutal.  Out of 10 passes though the surf, I think I dumped it 5 times.  Fortunately, I did a lot of reading on this site prior to our trip, so I had everything stowed inside that I could.  On the last trip in, I was carrying 5 hoop nets all zip tied together and zip to the milk crate.  It felt like I did and endo' over the front...zip ties came apart...hoop nets went everywhere and I ended up losing one.

The little guy is my son at 3 y/o.  He loves watching us go through the waves.
