How do I get a parking permit after hours? Anyone have an idea? I heard the gate will be open, but at 9-10 o'clock I know the visitors center will be closed.

The gate is going to remain open. I will check in with the visitors center when I get there. I'm leaving now.

Racinrob: To answer you question:
"How do I get a parking permit after hours? Anyone have an idea? I heard the gate will be open, but at 9-10 o'clock I know the visitors center will be closed.

Vistors center closes at 4:00 PM.  You can phone the vistors center by 3:45 with your car info and license plate #.  They will tape the overnight parking permit up on the window of the visitoes center.  If you are overnight parking at Yorty, and If OK with the rangers, I can pick up your parking permit to save you the 45 minutes of extra drive time and leave the permit for you on my windshield.  Just a thought.  Call the visitors center to check then Give me a buzz: 707 321- 0684 before 2:45 today.  Leaving the computer now so please dont email. Thanks!
Rick (team: funky bass lines)

So how was it? I didn't get to go, but I fish Yorty a lot. I'll wait a while, since it probably got fished out this weekend, but I'm still interested in how the event went.

The first of many, Sonoma Slam tournaments was a huge success, put on by Pacific Outfitters and Lost Coast Kayak Anglers. The weather was in the high 70's the bass left their spawning beds and the bite was descent. We had 17 two man teams. People came from all over, as far south as Stockton, as far east as Placer County and as far north has Trinidad. I was so impressed at the quality of people that came out for the first annual Sonoma Slam. Sonoma Slam in a Multi-Species tournament. We scored based off points per inch, per species. Between the two teammate, you could turn in up to 5 fish total of any of the species. If your largest species caught was a "catch and release" fish you received and extra bonus inch for the fish. All but two fish were caught using "catch and release" method. We all hit the water at 6:30am and the last people came back by 3:00pm. There was a large varienty of fish that were caught, everything from Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Trout and Pan Fish. Our largest Bass caught was a 23" Largemouth Bass caught by Team Bass Turds. We also had a 16" Crappie caught by Team Dynamite! That was the largest Crappie I have ever seen. It was also the most valuable fish caught, coming in at a whopping 192 pts. First place went to Team Placer County (714 pts), Second place went to Team Salty William (632 pts) and Third place went to Team Bass Turds (600 pts). Sonoma Slam had prizes for first, second and third place teams. Addition to the prizes, first place received two custom welded metals (see pictures) and second place received custom wood painted metals (see pictures). We would like to give a special thanks to Pacific Outfitters and Lost Coast Kayak Anglers for contributing prizes and labor for putting this event together. I would also like to thank Six Rivers Brewery for donating six cases of beer! Everyone really enjoyed your beer, thank you. Another thanks goes to the Park Rangers of Lake Sonoma and the DFG for getting our permit done in a hurry. You guys were a pleasure to deal with. And a BIG thanks goes out to all the wonderful people that came out and participated in the tournament. You guys and gals made this happen and we look forward to keeping this going every year. With the huge recreation area, "car top only" boat ramp and the "paddle to" camp sites, it really made this lake to be a desirable place to hold a kayak fishing tournament. If you didn't make it this year, check out the photos, because after being there in person, you will definitely want to come back year after year. Thanks again everyone, I will keep you posted on next years tournament.

Also, don't forget to email your pictures to aaron@pacificoutfitters.com. We are looking for a good picture to put on the flyer for next year. If we choose your picture, we will comp your entry fee and Pacific Outfitters will kick down a $50 gift card!
