I won't get off work until 4pm on that friday, I can bring my yak trailer but someone else will need to tow it as my car is old and dying. Trailer holds 4 yaks, more if needed.

I was scouting on orbitz.com and found Homestead San Diego Sorento Mesa. 110 per night, two queen beds, and a kitchen area in the room. That price is for two people. There are cheaper hotels but the kitchen area would be nice cause it would save on the cost of meals. Plus we could cook up some fresh yellow tail!

The tentative plan is to leave late Thursday night so we can fish Friday morning.  We can exchange cell phone #'s so we can meet up when you get in town.

As far as hotels go, one of the problems is a severe lack of parking around La Jolla.  One hotel on the beach of the launch site is $170/nite which wouldn't be too bad if split 3 - 4 people.

A kitchen would be nice, though...

Not trying to be a wet blanket guys, but the El Nino is making weather in So Cal a real crap shoot right now.  Everytime I have been down (3x) in the last two months it has been unfishable.  Before you guys drive 10+ hours, you might want to wait til its more predictable and get the full experience.  As bad as I want a YT I think I am going to put it off until winter is all the way over.

Sean.... I hear ya.   I talked to Kickfish last night and he tried to talk me out of going to La Jolla right now.  He was just there this past weekend.   He also said it would be a waste of time unless we had someone local to show us exactly where to park, launch, and fish.  I tried to contact Mike "Conejoman" but I still haven't heard back him.

Would you guys be interested in going for either of the two La Jolla derbies scheduled for June 4th and August 27th?

The weather shouldn't be an issue then and we'd have lots of new friends to fish with us.

I can most likely do the June 4th Derby.

No loss for me if we don't go on the 11th, if I go I want to make sure it is good.

It's no loss for me either if I don't go next week.  I know it'll make my wife happy to know that I'll be around to do some chores.... but little does she know.... I plan to fish my ass off anyways :smt074

So it sounds like this trip is off.  No one wants to go even if the weather forecast looks good?

By the way another yellow was caught today...  We're going to be kicking ourselves if it turns WFO...
