We will just say, all kayaks have good points and bad.  Likes and dislikes.  Strengths and weaknesses.  Admirers and skeptics.  They all get us out doing the things we like to do.
Have fun with your cuda, prowler, trident, tarpon, etc.See you on the water.

When I was in ATDs I felt pretty secure. Even stood up and paddled a few strokes. But. The high center of gravity can get the best of someone i could tell.

Hey Jim,
I could have listed Rides, Big Games, Raptors, PA's, but I was talking about the misconception that narrow boats are tippy.

So the beginner wouldn't have dumped the tarpon?just asking. Never been in a tarpon. I love my cuda but yes I think the stability might be a bit over rated. Is it a great kayak yes is it the perfect one for me. The answer is no.

I wasn't there. He may have dumped anything, but Adam put him on the "more stable" one.  Adam told me the Tarpon felt a little tippy at first but he got used to it quickly.  I just posted those pics because I thought they were funny.

I tried Steveislost tarpon once and thought it a bit tippy. Of course my scrambler is tippy also, been in the drink twice with it.
One great thing about ATDs Cuda is that everything can be stowed and tied down good from the seat. The side rod holders are nice and it makes the rods easily accessible.

Those are great pics.  It was so stable he didn't spill his sprite.
I turtled my cuda. But I'm a noob so I'm not sure if was me or the kayak.  I wasn't paying attention and I'm in close proximity to a shipping channel. The wakes can be tough.   I will agree the higher the center of gravity the easier to tip.

Tha Tarpon has good secondary stability. It takes just a little while to get used to it. I can stand in my 160 now. Not ideal, but I can. I use the front bungees to slide my rods under and the two paddle holders to secure the rod butt. Works good.

Any kayak can be dumped. I catch myself napping occasionally on the ocean and have been lucky enough not to go over.

I haven't gone ducer up in mine (yet) I can stand just long enough to take a leak all over the deck. By all over i mean it's so damn wobbly streams going everywhere but in the water. Hahaha.
Seated I'm stable I can reach to the rear of the tank well with no issues. I can lean over the side to shoulder deep water to retrieve gear(thought I was going in that time).
I think I'm the only one who hates the high seat also. Kills my back after an hour or two,but that could be caused by my pfd when it warms up. I'm gonna go out for a few hours without a pfd. Just to find out ,but I don't think that's the issue. I think it's the way the seat sits flat when it's in the high position. It's like sitting on a flat bench.

I don't much care for the hi-seat for general paddling or trolling - in fact I hate it.  Only time I dig the hi-seat is when I'm in somewhat protected water where the extra visibility gives me some measurable degree of fishing benefit, or I just feel like stretching out a bit more.  So long as you don't junk up your deck with a ton of stuff or have junk crammed into/beneath your seat, it's pretty easy to move from hi to lo, lo to hi while on the water, although it'll take some practice and a little bit of limberness.

I bought a JK because the chicks dig camo.
