Hi folks!First poster here.Have any of you tried these boats?I've done some research myself but mostly very mixed opinions as far as the fish-ability end of it goes.

Post a link to the yak you are talking about and you'll get more responses.

Both RTM's-

I first became aware of RTM from another site where these reviews were glowing-

But more research called into question just how good they are for fishing.

What I see is they look pretty darn narrow for fishing stability.

The weight capacity freaks me out.  I would outright sink the disco and a few nice fish and I max out the midway as well.

I would be maxed out with the Disco on weight capacity with my gear but the Midway is easily doable.I had an Ocean SPTW which RTM's now making as their Tempo model (also in the running) with a few mods.-

Just thought it might be worth a try going with a more performance oriented hull design.FYI all three are available in angler versions.

The Midway will be hard to find without a special order.  Discos are available and doable but seem to be a better fishing kayak for small anglers with more traditional kayaking experience.  Not much initial rocker and a late secondary, most will consider the Disco 'tippy".  The Tempo would be the best referral after the Abaco.  Likened everywhere to the Scupper pro, I consider it more like a hybrid of the classic and pro with improved design.

Spike, some of the changes on the Tempo vs SPTW I like but two I really don't get. They raised the seat a 1/2" and reduced the amount of rocker.Granted 1/2" isn't much and I'm not sure how much they messed with the rocker but both changes are a step in the wrong direction IMO.Can you tell me what the most basic Abaco commonly sells for?

Those changes did not diminish the performance of the Tempo and only a demo will determine if that model is the right one.  While hugely popular and among the best in its class,  I consider the Tempo (and many others) a high quality "entry level" kayak.  The Abaco is the clear choice though for any fishery.  I PM'd you with the sales info.

Thanks Spike! As much as I'd like to buy one soon with hunting season starting in a few weeks I wouldn't get much use out of it this year.I think my best bet is to wait till spring when the dealers will have some of the boats I'm interested in back in stock and I can try them myself. The Abaco looks like a fishing machine but it has a lot more features than I need or want really. It's pretty much down to either the Midway or Tempo as far as SOT's go.
