Excellent gathering of devoted yak fishermen. Great hanging with old friends and getting to know others better. King Salmon bite was only fair but some Silvers were in the mix making things interesting. They were in close as on Friday morning. Pedaled past some Salmon working  a small bait ball off the end of the Jetty. Coming back on that day, I was switched over to Halibut and hooked up on a feisty Silver 100-150 feet off the Jetty in 15 FOW. Saturday, Plenty of big rockfish and Lings were norm. Caught my personal best Black at almost 21". A real hog. Sunday had me catching some Petrole Sole and something a little bigger. Guess I got a little excited. Finally I get to scratch off my elusive devil fish ! A nice 30"er.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

Shelter Cove is such an incredible place.  It’s one of my favorite places on the planet.  Thank you Eric for putting on this event!  The fishing is always good.  With so much opportunity and diversity it’s totally appropriate for this event to focus on the most species.

Spent the weekend targeting Salmon and Halibut mostly.  Didn’t get any salmon but got some nice flatties.  Halibut bite was pretty good Sunday.   Can’t wait to get back there for the one that got away!

Thank you for hosting a very fun and successful event Eric! It was great to get away from school and do some kayak fishing. We didn’t meet the deadline for entering fish into the tournament but it was ok because at least I got to enter them in JAOTY.  :smt044 Here are some photos of the day.

Also, thank you for the paddle that I won during the raffle!

Good ol???

Dude that's the first time you've ever been kayak fishing in your life and your first ever kayak fish to boot. It couldn't of happened at a better place.

Good job though and thanks for not hurling  :sad3: :puke:

Great times at Open Shelter II, and big thanks to Eric and Vera for their hospitality. It was a total blast with outstanding conditions throughout the weekend. I shot a few pics of a person with a halibut, but I do not personally know him, anyone that might know him please forward the pics his way. Cheers Mike
