At Gimme Shelter we will have a raffle like we have had for the last few years where people purchase one dollar tickets and put them in Ziploc bags placed with each prize that they want a shot at.

This format allows people to focus their chances on prizes they actually want, and has worked really well the past couple of years.

Each paid GS11 participant will also get one entry toward the Grand Prize Wilderness Systems kayak.  :smt007

For the past couple years we have raised several thousand dollars for PIF and HOW, and this year proceeds will once again to PIF and HOW.

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?topic=64354.0

http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?board=46.0

As of now the raffle includes:

-New Wilderness Systems Kayak  http://www.wildernesssystems.com/us/

-New Adventure Technology Paddle http://www.atpaddles.com/us/

-An oldgrowth 40 inch redwood Trophy Trough made by the AbKing himself

-Half a Hog from Badger Ranch and Tyja Taube ($420 value, winner will need to pay $150 for cut/wrap fee, or take without cutting/wrapping, and pick up at Sonoma County Meat Market immediately after tourney).  https://www.facebook.com/BadgerRanch

We are soliciting the usual big name sponsors for additional items.  :smt001

If you have something you'd like to offer for the raffle shoot me a PM so we can add it to the list!! Just be aware that you will be responsible for getting the prize up there (either in person or via NCKA express, and if nobody bids on the prize you will be responsible for making sure someone takes it...)

AND, if you want to volunteer to help with the raffle please let me know...can always use helpers to set up prizes/Ziploc bags, sell tickets, get prizes and tickets up to podium for drawing and giving away etc.

I will have my family with me this year so may need a little more help than usual...but I can always put my daughters to work for me as well.  :smt003

THANK YOU Eric and GS for donating to PIF and HOW!!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

Strong work, Jim - thank you so much!

This year everyone entered in GS11 will have a chance at the new kayak, and I also want people to be able to put as many tickets in that bag as they want.  So it's not just one entry per person for the kayak - buy tickets and give yourself a better chance if you wish.

The raffle is a wonderful part of the event, and Jim and his army of helpers do an awesome job.

Thank you, FM1!  What an awesome donation to the raffle, and I'm glad you're joining us for GS.

Thanks, Dylan Taube too!  Thank you to all who donate and participate.

Thanks also to Rob Knoles and Wilderness Systems for their donation of the Radar 135 and the Odyssey Angler paddle.

All of the raffle prizes are highly appreciated, and it's an honor to host an event where we raise money for charities that are close to our hearts.

Recently, as most of you know, club member Stephanie Lopez had a sudden and severe health episode that she's still fighting against.  I was relieved to hear that the A-Hulls moved quickly to offer support from the PIF Fund for Stephanie and her family in their time of need.

Over the past few years, moves that the A-Hulls have made with monies gathered through raffles and donated at various events have been timely and decisive in terms of the needs of fellow club members in need due to family health emergencies.  I'm talking about NCKA club members - that's what we are.  With NCKA acting as a gathering place and a portal for our communications, and considering that the format and focus of NCKA are such that this amazing community has emerged from a "Simple Machines" message board, I think it's worth noting, illuminating and celebrating how we have made a difference in Northern California, the Western United States, and, I'm serious, we have made a difference in the world.  The actions and communications of the members of this club lead to good things on a much wider scale than the founders and all of us who started along with the club back in December 2004 probably envisioned.  This club and the activities supported through it have changed my life, and I think many here would agree that it's changed theirs too.

This is what life is about.  :smt001
