Title: Surf Fishing SF Bay Area
Post by: Zeus91 on September 12, 2017, 03:34:01 PM
I'm thinking of surf fishing some unfamiliar grounds this Saturday. Somewhere around SF area. Any suggestions of where and possibly some strategy to prepare? Any advice will help. Thanks.

What are you planning on fishing for? Perch? Stripers? Throwing lures? Or bait? I'd join you but taking my yak out Sat AM. Im fishing the surf Sunday, Monday.

Ocean Beach is always a good show.  Also Sutro Baths.  If you wanted to cross the GG bridge, and see some trees, then check out Stinson or Muir Beach.  If you end up in Muir, stop by the Pelican Inn for a pint.

Ocean Beach is more of a walk from the available parking areas. For convenience, Rockaway Beach in Pacifica! But yea, Ocean Beach, lots and lots fishing ground.

Planning on heading out for some striper, and perch depending. Most likely cast out some bait or use throw out lures. Hoping the waters are calm enough for lures. Shoot I'd be joining you on the yak but I'm taking my yakless cousin out fishing.

I'm liking the sound of this. I've seen ocean Beach is one popular place to fish but I like the sound of going over the GG. Hopefully it will be a little more mellow in that area. Thanks again for the advice .

Thank you. I hear a lot of good fishing in Pacifica. I'm going to make sure to add this on my list of go to areas. Thanks again.

Rockaway Beach and Linda Mar in Pacifica. You have to pay for parking in Linda Mar. i think its 4 hours max. But thats plenty time for perchin and throwing lures. If I get no action in 2 hours on the surf..time to hit another spot!

When everything else is out of season, I always hit the surf in search of some good perch!

Hell yeah! Nice man! I use to do a lot of surf fishing and love perch. It's some good eating. I just want to try some where new. Definitely looking forward to fishing this weekend. I'm going to map everything out and make a trip out of it this weekend. Thanks man. Appreciate the help!

Muir Beach has had some good perching this year.

I've never fished Muir Beach. They have sand crabs to dig up there? Striper action? What are effective baits to use?
Anybody know how the surf fishing is in the Fort Bragg area?
