Title: Delta topwater 6/8/17
Post by: pindo124 on June 09, 2017, 08:52:44 AM
Weather forecast of calm conditions in the Delta - what a change! A few showers probably helped too. Fish were active. Gear guys I ran into also were doing well.

Started with an Ehler's Grim Reaper, which has produced a lot of bass over the years. Nothing doing. Switched to Whitlock Swimming Frog, which got quite a few smaller bass. Then tied on a 3/0 weedless Gurgler, and promptly landed the largest fish of the day for me - fat bass ~3 lbs.

Kept using the Gurgler. No more large fish, but I had a lot of fun teasing the smaller fish with it - they just couldn't get their mouths around this thing but that didn't stop them from trying!

Looking forward to SWS one of these days, if the weather ever cooperates.

You want top water? Put the gurgler away and get a bait caster, then cast a whopper plopper. White color. Best thing going in the Delta.
