I was just wondering how far the parking area is from the "overnighting" area, 'cause I plan on sleeping in my truck.
Doable?

Also, is there a sign-up sheet for the potluck?  Just looking for ideas on what to bring.

Oh, and if I keep some fish will someone fillet them for half of the fillets?

And, most importantly, is Chuck bringing the deep fryer?!

This doesn't look to bad.  How is the water looking.

wunderground forecast looks like this:

Fri
N wind 15 to 25 kt. Wind waves 3 to 5 ft. NW swell 5 to 7 ft. Patchy fog.
Sat
N wind 15 to 25 kt. Wind waves 3 to 5 ft. NW swell 6 ft.
Sun
NW wind 5 to 15 kt. Wind waves 2 to 4 ft. NW swell 5 ft. Patchy fog.

(It's been gradually getting better by the day...hopefully the wind stays down in the morning.)

I'm bringing a load of home-made salsa for the potluck.

Just bring something good to share....it generally all works out.  There will be b-day cakes for cpyak and Jelly so skip bringing a dessert!  NCKA potlucks are serious business, so be ready to go big! :smt004

Parking is close, so it is not an issue.

I am sure someone will help you fillet...I gave a lot of lessons last year.

That is the dang schnizzle truth!

I'm already drooling for B@MII

In fact, I'm kegging the IIPA for the tourney today, and brewing yet another brew on Saturday.

Yeah, you gotta take into consideration that the area that the wunderground report covers is huge....and they're also adding in twenty or so miles offshore. So I'm sure somewhere in that huge area the conditions might match the report. I use it more for the swell forecast than the wind forecast.

That is good to know.  Swells can be ok if wind is down.  How far apart are the swells?

The wundergourn marine forcast seems to be direct from the NWS marine forecast for Pt. Areana to Cape Mendocino for waters 0-20 nm from shore.  That's a lot of water to cover.  The 20nm - 60 nm is much worse, which makes me think we're looking at a gradient and the nearshore might be nicer.  Sunday looks like it's going to be beautiful.

As for the Weather.com stuff... I don't trust it much for coastal weather.  For example, the current weather in Bodega Bay according to Weather.com is 87ºF.  However, according to the weather gauge here at the lab, it's really only 65ºF.

Coastal stuff is hard to gauge but I like the 9mph versus the 20-25. A guy can't hope.

Yup, weather.com is a farce, too. If you look at it the report for Bodega says "As reported in Santa Rosa". And if you compare the two they will be indentical. So, basically the Bodega report is really the Santa Rosa report - which is thirty miles away.

Pretty lame.

As far as the timing of the swells, wunderground won't give the timing until a day or two before.
