Elk Coastside Fundraiser Raffle

The Elk derby is just around the corner.  If you haven't been making annual donations to the Coastside Fishing Club, or even if you have been, now is your opportunity to show your support for the organization that is looking out for the future of OUR fisheries.

Each donation of $5.00 will earn you a raffle ticket.  We have a number of very generous sponsors for this years raffle, and I'll continue to update the list as more prizes roll in.  Last year we raised $600 for Coastside fishing club from this raffle... this year I'd like us to top the $1000 mark.  Let's remind Coastside that we exist and that we appreciate what they are doing to protect the interests of kayak anglers in Northern CA.

The following from Great White Kayak Company (Scwafish):
- Boat Rulers
- (12) flush mounts
- (2) big drybags
- (2) small dry bags
- Deluxe tie downs
- (1) super nice dry bags from Surf to Summit
- (1) ultra nice paddle from Accent with Glass blades and shaft (a division of Cannon)

More prizes are expected... stay tuned.

The raffle will be open to anyone who attends the Elk Event and will be held on Saturday afternoon (8/12) sometime after the weigh-in and before the potluck / dinner.  You must be present to win.  If you have to leave early, you must make arrangements with someone to accept any prizes you might win.  I'll be selling tickets at the event... come find me any time Friday or Saturday to make your donation.

See you there!

I just finished the rod for the raffle at Elk.  Here are the details... not as gaudy as last years rod, more toned down and classy looking, but I threw some blood red color into the design for good luck  :smt002.

PacBay XG70L blank. 7-foot graphite/glass composite rod rated for 12 to 25# line and 3/4 - 3 oz lures.
- Titanium Framed Guides are 100% corrosion proof and 50% lighter weight than standard guides.
- Fuji SiC tip top
- All guides double over-wrapped for extra durability.
- Acid / Spiral wrapped for optimum performance, stability, and sensitivity.
- Oversized EVA foam foregrip for added rod floatation.
- Fuji palm support trigger reel seat is IMO the most comfortable trigger reel seat around.
- Overall rod weight is approximately 11 oz.  This will be the most sensitive rod that you own in this class.

This blank is one of my favorite all-around blanks for the kind of fishing we do in NorCal.  It excels at everything from halibut/live bait drifting, rockfishing with 2 to 6 oz jigs, sturgeon fishing (I landed my 72 incher with this very blank) to any number of trolling techniques.  It has a fast taper and flexible tip with lots of power in the butt section.  I'd normally sell a rod like this for around $285.

Good luck!

The upsidedown "2" is sure to make it a valuable collectors item!!  :smt003

It is a sweet rod, I wish I could win it.

I have donated a case of homebrew, brewed to order, for the raffle.  Erik will have a coupon that you can redeem by calling me and telling me the specifics of what beer you want and I will brew it custom.

Hope everyone has a good time.

Upside down "2"?  Have a little more of that home brew   :smt005  must be some strong stuff.

Seriously though, thanks for everyone with the donations... it's gonna be a great weekend.

I might have had a homebrew but the 2 is upside down in the 2006 date next to the state.

Or I am totally wack.... I guess it could be a reversed 5...

Could be.

The rod looks totally awesome, it just caught my eye.  Maybe I am wack.
