For Sale / Rhino Rack T-Loader Canoe and Kayak Rack - $180
« on: April 05, 2019, 11:43:03 AM »
Having a hard time loading the fishing Kayak from side on top of car / SUV?
This was the solution and gave me huge piece of mind. No more worries about dropping the Kayak on the car and damage it.
Bought this in Feb 2018 for 280$ at Amazon.
Worked well, probably used 10-15 times.

Since then I bought finally a Truck, so I don't need this anymore and has been sitting in garage for last 6 months.

1 x Rhino-Rack Aero crossbar
Fits 50mm tow balls
Suits Rhino Aero and Heavy Duty Crossbars

See this video how it works:

Hello,
after having seen last years Release of Steelhead at THERMALITO AFTERBAY per

https://www.actionnewsnow.com/content/news/50K-Steelhead-Trout-released--478807693.html

I wonder whether I should give it a try assuming there should be plenty still held over?
Want to take my Kayak and with rivers now in pretty fast flow this would be much easier?

Or what are good Feather River launch spots to target Steelhead with a Kayak?

« on: January 15, 2019, 04:01:17 PM »
Was eyeing one of these mounts for trolling motor for a while... and as they are never on sale was happy to see below sale... in case anyone else is also interested on the upgrade:

Supposed to be one of the higher quality item made by company known for quality items.
Not sure I will use trolling motor very often, but on long days knowing you have few miles back into wind this is good to have... and give my knees some rest. Can be easily installed and removed.

General Fishing Tips / How is Lake Oroville for Kayak Fishing
« on: May 21, 2018, 09:26:50 PM »
Hi
With Lake Oroville filling up again wondering how kayak fishing is at the lake for bass?  They always advertise as being one of top bass fishing locations. But haven’t seen any posts here? Is it more of a power boat fishing location? It’s part of the California state parks so if you have a poppy pass it’s included. Or are the rivers downstream more fun for kayakers?

Introductions / Hello from fairly new Kayak Fisherman from Roseville
« on: April 06, 2018, 12:53:05 PM »
Hi guys & fellow Kayak Anglers!
my name is Lothar Metten (RosevilleYak) and my sons Boy Scouting got me into kayaking & fishing about a year ago.
So we went out and got a pair of SamsClub Fishing kayaks.

Now less than a year later that 400$ yak was replaced with nice Hobie Compass I really like.

Wife expects to to catch some yummy fish to eat to make up for that significant expense... but starts to make fun of me for showing pictures of dings I release. Caught less than a dozen fish since I started, but hooked and determined to learn this sport.
I hear Folsom Lake is more finesse and should try other waters. And once the boaters and waterski/jetski drivers are out the serenity will give way. Went to Lake Natomas last weekend but again got skunked. Anyone else getting tired of passers by asking 'Any bites?' while I desperately try to get them?

Enjoying my time on the lakes though... but hoping I will figure out to make the YouTube knowledge gained and significant expense into gear and lures at some point a bit more productive. (even got a real fishfinder after the IBobber... dont tell my wife)
Now that we hit spawn and warmer weather I definitely plan to go out as much as I can also trying the Delta and calmer rivers. Not ready for ocean/fast moving waters yet. Especially as I have made my trips solo this far not wanting to hold up any real Kayak Anglers.

Was somehow able to read some of the launch point posts and would like to ask and contribute as well. I don't mind driving an hour or so around Roseville to get to good place. Love to get to spots power boaters don't reach.
Hopefully this intro gets me there.

Lothar
