We just had dinner at Amsterdam Cafe, in Fairfax. Anita asked if the salmon was farmed or not and the waitress said it was wild, from Mexico!
I almost choked. The poor waitress didnt have a clue, she was told by the cook. Is this possible? Ben

Ben,

I know they have imported salmon to S America and are farming them in a climate similar to ours....  Lots of press on how it may screw up their ecosystem, as some salmon have escaped into the wild and more are being caught by fishermen.

But... Mexico...?  Can't believe the water is cold enough.....

Wayward salmon are caught in San Diego almost every year, but I doubt that there is a sustainable commercial population in mexico.
