That’s a beauty!! I caught a big halibut one time and didn’t have my gaff, when I put my “big” net under him it was like a bad joke! Nothing I could do but keep pissing him off until he finally broke free.

If I ever get my lazy ass up to HMB I’ll make sure to bring the real “big” net!

Way to go! I’ve been wanting to get out to Franks but it’s such a haul from Santa Cruz I usually just hit the harbor instead. But it’s on my list and I really want to try fly fishing for striper. Post a little earlier next time and maybe I’ll get up there to join you!

I was out of the harbor Saturday, too. Got a big ling and that’s it. But I’m happy to add a few more fillets to my freezer. Maybe I’ll see you out there next time!

There is so much "right" going on in this photo! I just added a plywood counter to my outside cleaning station, too. Been using the cheap Rapala filet knife, but I'll check out these others now that I'm finally catching fish!

Great video, thanks! I love the end with the snag, had one of those out by the mile buoy and thought I finally hooked a fattie... nope just a snag. I've been out kayak fly fishing the forebay there but haven't tried the main reservoir, yet. On my list now.

Got tired of getting skunked in Santa Cruz lately so I went down and did some fly fishing with my brother in San Diego. Stripping clousers and little sculpin heads with rabbit fur. Probably landed 30 spotted bass, a black croaker, mackerel and a bat ray. On a 4wt rod that was a lot of fun!
