Sorry I am a little late on this guys, things have been a bit hectic the last few months! I will upload the points matrix soon as well. You will see some new freshwater species added as well. Please give me your comments.

2. Photographic evidence of fish, size (length) must be provided.

4. All fish entered must be caught in the Central or Northern California Regions as defined by the California Department of Fish and Game (refer to http://www.dfg.ca.gov/mrd/fishing_map.html for map and regulations)

5. The pool covers the following categories: Sturgeon, Salmon, Halibut, Rockfish, Cabezone, Lingcod, Striped Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass and Trout.

Awesome event Bill.  Do we need a length AND a girth?  I thought it was going to be length, sorry I didnt catch it earlier.

So this will replace the individual pools?

There are still invidual pools but one entry fee. This is how the scoring will work, each fish will be scored based on length and get a set number of points per inch. Here is the scale (pts = points per inch):

Rockcod = 7 pts
Cabezon = 7 pts
Salmon = 5 pts
Halibut = 4 pts
Ling = 4 pts
Trout = 7 pts
Smallmouth = 10 pts
Largemouth = 8 pts
Sturgeon = 2.5 pts
Striper = 5 pts

So an 18' Striper is worth 90 points. The top 3 fish for each species will win prizes (TBD). Then we will totaly up each anglers biggest fish in each species and give them a cumlative score. The top 3 in the overall will split the cash pot 60%, 30%, 10%.

Hope that is clear  :smt003

"The biggest fish from each angler for a given species will be used towards the anglers total points."

So we'll have a scorecard per guy/gal at the end of the year with that person's biggest fish per category, like this:

rockcod............280
cabezon............287
salmon..............250
halibut...............200
lingcod..............176
trout.................280
smallmouth........180
largemouth........160
sturgeon...........225
striper...............200

Grand total......2238                 and the top 3 overall scores split the pot?  Sounds cool!   :smt001  ...but, what about abalone?!!
I'm thinking 30 points per inch.   :smt004  How about individual side-pots rather than a bastard son of the grand-pot?  I was ready to kick in at least $20 just for ling pot  :smt003  And the abalone side-pot could be fat too...  All of this is cool.  Thanks to Bill--WTG.

All species will have 1-3 prizes individually as well. So there are many chances to win! I am still working out prize sponsorships but I should have those worked out pretty soon.

I have a couple of more bugs to work out on the leader board application, I am hoping it will be up by next weekend.

The only change in adding the south-central zone would be the biggest rockfish would probably be taken there.  I'm pretty sure I hooked into a WSB for a while there too, so there are a few more species, but if they're not on the list...

Should we add WSB and sheepshead if we add south-central?  WSB should probably be on anyway considering there was one caught at linda mar and coastsiders caught about a dozen of them out of bonita cove last fall.  I plan to drive down there several times for another shot at a WSB.

Let's see how this year goes on the species and we can add more next year.

For the zones I could open south-central, what does everyone else think?

Steelhead are in since according to this - http://www.fishbase.org/Summary/SpeciesSummary.php?id=239 they are trout. Any biologist want to weigh in?
