What a day! :smt003 We had an AWESOME turn out for the Pay It Forward Paddle today! :smt007 The weather could have been a little nicer, but we had a great time floating out by the Red Buoy, on the beach and at the potluck. The raffle was a HUGE success! Stay tuned, will get the final reports out soon. :smt002
Just want to say THANK YOU EVERYONE for all the generosity and the outpouring of support for our brothers Joel and Marv :smt002 Without all of you, none of this would have been possible. :smt003
Will have to just start this as a teaser report for now :smt044 But here are some pics! :smt004

It was my favorite day last year and the same for this year. Thanks AHulls!!! So many great moments like Craig smoked Raptor, a hail Mary ling, taco throw down and watching shark bait clean up at the raffle. Glad Joel got the rod I made. Sometimes all that is good about life turns out right. Today was a special day for sure. :smt006

My Girlfriend and I had a great time. I'd like to thank everyone who made this event possible. And a huge thank you to everyone who "payed it forward" and hooked it up with the awesome raffle prizes. I won the Rob Roskopp deck and will be throwing some trucks and wheels on it shortly, stand by for a GoPro video! It was really nice to see people in the NCKA fam, and meet ones that I havent previously met, most notably the one and only Fishunter. In the "Sport" of Kayak fishing, your one of the guys who really kept me interested and motivated me to actually accept that I had the madness and buy a kayak. So yeah, it was super cool for me and my lady to hang with everyone, she had a great time, and because of that, so did I :smt044. Next up, is to get her to a NCKA overnighter. Thanks again to everyone who made this possible, especially those of you who Payed It Forward. It was great meeting everyone who I haven't met before! See ya at the next one!

Ravensblack Vs. Baitman
Ravensblack Vs. Baitman Kayak Race Pay It Forward Paddle 2011 - Video (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/6643385/)
-
thanks Baitman and Ravensblack for the duel and raising some serious cash. A hulls, you guys rock. I toss in a few bucks and feel almost (almost :smt002 ) bad about leaving with more goodies than I could have bought. That dive board is going to see a lot of use from shark_bait. Thanks Bloodbath.
Yakhopper used Shark_baits net for the salmon. First salmon that net has seen. Hopefully some mojo rubbed off :smt003
all the food was amazing but I have to call out special notes to the sausage grilling team. One grilling, one cutting, trying to keep up with a pack of hyenas :smt044 . Carnitas from heaven, lamb of the gods...
Lets do this every weekend :smt003
-
Al - love the race video but it didn't really do justice to the separation. :smt044 I was fishing at the red buoy with Eugene and Shark Bait and made 2 drifts from the the time Craig rounded the buoy till when Baitman rounded. Scott

Had a great time as usual with this group. Good food as always. Started out just cruising along talking with everyone around. Decided at the meet up area I would go ahead and fish. Just trying to get the skunk off of 4 trips. It took a while but finally started get it going. Caught my 1st rockfish and Ling out there. Ling was 21.99999 inches long and went back in. Got back to shore just in time to bail in the 6 inch surf. That makes me 1 for 2 in safe landings. Planned on fishing today, but had to take off last night and get home. Something came up. Here are a few pics.
-
SUPER Duper bummed that I had to miss this one! Looks like a fun time was had by all, cant wait for the next A hull event!!!
-
OMG too much fun for a good cause! It was a great turnout, perfect place and company, the floating barge/bar was a kick...
and A HUGE THANX :smt006 :smt006 for replacing my yak, I love the new ride and will guard this one like its a kid!
-
Brothers and sisters, what an event!! Fantastic food, the greatest company, as well as some cool prizes :smt007 Thank you to the entire A-Hulls crew for putting together this year's PIF, but most importantly everyone who was so gracious to donate their time/gifts and to everyone who attended. Without y'all, it wouldn't have been a success.
My love goes out to each and everyone one of y'all, and I look forward to continue to build our friendships!! See everyone soon!! :D
-
Thank you guys!!! Who won the banks board, fry pan?? I saw dpshim's new kayak this morning! @.@

I am always impressed and touched by the unselfish generosity of this group. NCKA is amazing! Thank you to all the members involved for the hard work you put into this event. Thanks also to the people and companies that donated raffle prizes.
I can't believe how lucky I was during the raffle. Thank you Glen for the GoPro camera, Ben for the great painting, and The Headwater kayak shop in Lodi for the Wheeleez Beach Cart.
Andie and I had a great time (Sam the Pug too) :smt006,

Thank you everyone who had anything to do with Pay it Forward 2011, we all made this happen together, and boy, what a turnout!!
See what can be accomplished when people come together? Keep up the momentum and speak up for your cause, whatever it is, and PAY IT FORWARD BABY!!!!!
And Congrats to Daniel dpshim for the big win!!!!! I was very happy the Kayak was won by someone present at the event so we could all take part in the immediate celebration. :smt004

See there,,, exactly why Craig wanted to start the race at 8 am. We missed out on all the OTW fun... :smt010
Didn't miss a thing at the food table though ! FishMaster's Chicken.. Jedmo Ceviche... There was no shortage of food or drink... or prizes. :smt002
I was so sore the next day... Advil didn't help. Still I had a big smile on my face thinking about it. Truthfully , if we were both paddling the same boat I would'nt have been able to keep up with The Ravensblack. It must have been his new paddle... :smt044 BTW. Raptors avg speed over that 3.3 mile course was 4.1 mph. Not too bad for an old man paddling it.
BigJim... I'm glad you got the Mosquito ! You deserved it after all you put in to make this event happen. Thank YOU too Sara and Al, and everyone else who made this event happen. You're all awesome , and I'm humbled to be in your company.

+ me too. Great, great job you guys did to put this together.
so cool to see Marv & Joel out in the yaks.

Having a hard time getting my videos off the card. Oh well, here is my report: I had fun.
Seriously though, it was awesome! Got to the vet's memorial campground at 11:30 or so, and all the A-hulls were asleep. Woke all them briefly, and was told to go to sleep. Woke up at 6 and headed for the launch. Shilo at my side, we embarked on our journey. I, naturally caught the first fish, a little copper, but the skunk would not be spraying and my dog gets to live! Then I get another one, a tree rockfish, very cool fish, never caught one that far north, usually just around San Diego, so it was kinda neat. Then Shilo caught a tree fish too! Finished the day with two blacks, copper, and tree rockfish, two sandabs. Shilo, got a gopher, tree, black, and two sandabs. The food was great, special kudos to the WSB ceviche! The raffle was awesome!! I won a spa treatment packet, and payed it forward to the old lady pretty darn fast! I also payed forward the other prize of a kayak rental to someone who could use it, and seeing the generous nature, that only NCKA has, was nothing short of having fun. Great to see Marvin and Mooch looking great, and on the water again! So to not bee too long winded, and to paraphrase, I had fun.
-
I can't say "Thank you" enough! :smt008 But I can truly say this = LOVE YOU ALL :smt008
-
OMG I'm still tired. Such an amazing event. Can't wait to do it again next year. A big thanks to everyone who contributed.

I really liked your spirit and your way about you. It felt like we had known each other for sometime. I am graced to call you a new friend. Thanks so much. Craig

Mystery of the day: I never sat down on the sand. After returning home, I had to sweep up about two cups of sand off the floor. :smt102

The weather was cooler than expected, but a couple of beers made life a lot more comfy.

Will try to do some video at the next event

Next big party: Albion

would have loved to make it but the budget im on only allows me gas money for work and back :smt009

It's truly inspiring to see everybody rally in support of our brothers. I'm humbled by the generous spirit that flows from this community. Thanks for that. It's a special feeling; almost surreal, like I'm dreaming. The power of NCKA is sometimes overwhelmingly strong.
Thank you, everybody!

What a great turnout we all had at the PIF last Saturday. Many thanks to the A-Hulls for a job well done and for those who donated stuffs for the raffle. That was
fun just hanging out on the water with everybody while having some adult beverages. :smt002 Congrats to Daniel for winning the grand prize of the day. I
know for a fact that many of his shore buddies will love him for that. :smt003 Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Kayaking, fishing, eating, drinking and enjoying the awesome camaraderie!!
-
regarding the food......
I want to congratulate Scott / Greatbass2 for winning the T.T.D. " Taco Throw Down". The spice on the meat was truly mouth watering. (Scott would be a good neighbor to mooch from :smt002)
Special mention also goes to....
*Chucke's ceviche....I ate a good portion that chuck was kind enough to put aside from me. It never made it home cause i did want to share it with my sister....but let's keep that between us :smt002
*Jedmo's poke tuna was also da bom :smt007 I was tempted to keep that dish to myself but......
*Tracy's sausage was also yummy!
* Fishunters wife gave me a nice serving of her famous tomato salad with the special dressing!
Did not get to try a lot of the other dishes...I can only blame those dam cancer meds that I'm currently taking :BangHead:
Anyway, many thanks to all that contributed to the pot luck and especially to all that cooked!!!
Joel / Mooch ....also known as the NCKA Unofficial Food Critic.....
*PS. Thank you to Rey Lapu Lapu and Glen G-Whiz (now known as Carbon Fiber) for feeding me some pizza and letting me stay at their hotel on Saturday night. I really needed that jacuzzi :smt045 I'm glad my speedo pics were not posted :white
-
As usual, I had a blast. Some of my highlights of the trip were:
Camping with my folks Friday night.
The Poetry Man (and the hex he put on Andy).
Bathtub Cheese.
Fried goodness.
4 visits from the campground rent-a-cop.
Late night raccoon shootings.
OTW kamikazes and pina coladas.
Live tako consumption.
Fishunter sighting.
Food coma.
Flying by Chad and Grace on the way home...twice.
Will try to post some pics a little later.
-
I flew past Chad and his outrageous new GF also. WTG Chad boy! Yes the food was off the hook. I didnt get a chance as Linelle was in the E-room with her Mom the day before so I will have to make up at Albion. Scott, thanks for the great tandoori lamb. Simply delicious! Marvin for the mini-me burgers and everyone else. Its was really the best yet and I was starved after the paddle. Lost my 150.00 Smiths on the ditch out by the can. :smt010
-
I'm glad my speedo pics were not posted :white
so are we :smt003

Was a little late getting down to Monterey but got to see everybody launching out of MBK.
Quite a sight to behold! Launched and Craig was already to the buoy so I hung back and got a couple pics of him riding his victory wave into the beach. :surf Smile says it all!
Glad to see Mooch & Marv were able to make it down and wishing them the best as always.
Also good to see all other NCKA peeps. Looking forward to seeing everybody again @ Albion!
Sent in my 'papers' today. :smt027 jim

What a weekend! I'm still sore from all that peddling on both days. More pics for all to enjoy. To bad I forgot my flip video. There were some really nice moments I wish I was able to capture.

Another cool PIF 2011 story:
I'm chilling with Jim. We're just hanging out shooting the shiz/drinking some brews when I commented on his cool ncka sweatshirt. I said, "I gotta get myself one of those." Having not seen the back of his shirt I didn't realize it was a sweatshirt from GS5 until he pointed it out. I told him I'd just be stoked to buy one of the regular ncka sweatshirts. Not 5 minutes later I'm making a trip over to my car to grab some gear for the raffle and I turn around and there is Jim, holding out the same sweatshirt that I had just been talking about. He says,"Hey Deva, here you go buddy."
Big Jim literally gave me the shirt off his back. :smt004
How cool was that?
Thanks for the sweatshirt Jim!! You are the man!!
I take back all that bad stuff I said about you :smt005
Oh and I'm calling off the hit I put out on you after you super soakered me in the face on the sail back to the beach :smt002

The pay it forward paddle was a great event. I'm a newb to the NCKA seen but everyone I met and talked to couldn't have been nicer. What a great group of people, I'm going to have to get more involved in events like this. Great day, great people, great grub, and to top it off I even caught some fish!

One of my highlights was meeting and chilling with Russ From Reno aka Desert Diver...could tell from his posts here and on NCUWH that he was a good guy and meeting him in person just affirmed that...looking forward to diving with you in the future for sure!!!
:smt004
Still jazzed about the event and how much $$ we raised!!
Really, really special to have a group of folks from all different walks of life get together and do something like this...makes me feel super warm and fuzzy inside!!
:smt006
Sincerely,
Jim

We're still doing final calculations (donations made on multiple paypal sites, checks mailed in etc), but I can say with a certainity that between the main raffle, the G-Whiz GoPro raffle, t-shirt sales, sticker sales and other donations we CRUSHED last years PIF total of ~$6,900!!
:smt007 :smt007 :smt007 :smt007
And that's not even taking into consideration the additional $1,000+ from the Ravensblack vs. Baitman race!!!
:smt003 :smt004
Will post up once the exact tally is ready!!
Trust me, we are working on getting all the $$ together and into Mooch and Shicken's hands as soon as we can!!
THANK YOU once again to EVERYBODY who helped make this a reality...really was a GROUP effort and everybody involved should be extremely proud of what was accomplished!!
:smt006
Sincerely,
Jim

Just curious,
Have we nailed a total for what we were able to raise this year?
Just wanting to let the people (who were generous enough to donate to the raffle) know how we did.
Thanks for making this happen.
See Ya Soon,
