If you have sites reserved post up your site # and if you have room for another vehicle.
If you want to share a site post it up here.
I'm in site 38 (no room for another vehicle) and WINGSHOOTER is in site 24
-
Just spoke to Tess at anchor bay camp and they have 3 sites left. If you think you might make this tourney call and reserve your site.
-
Get em before they are gone. I'm in site 24.

A champ could stay with a champ in 46 if he wishes...All I ask is to bring me some of those awesome jig heads in 3oz to go with my new "Sea Slugs"! :-)
-
So we need to see if anyone has any room at their site to help out a couple people so they are not having to stay at other campgrounds.
If you have any space please post up.
-
I'm making plans to get my butt up there to help out from the Lowrance side of things. If anyone has room for a pickup in their site?
Thanks!
Bill
-
Registered! ...not 100% sure if I will be fishing, but I sure hope I'm able. Thanks for putting this together, Mike. That registration site is pretty slick too. I like it!
Oops, wrong thread! Damn noobies hahaha

Is this were we are staying??? :smt006
-
Amy and I are going to start looking for tent /M-van/small dog friendly camping..any leads
-
Is the campsite booked? I want to bring this up to the wife, but want to make sure there is a place to stay.
-
Last I heard the ABCampground was full...myself and gf are staying at Manchester KOA. Pretty sure they're pet friendly.
-
ok i'll check it out...how you gonna have a party wiff no place to party?
-
This is a great campground but limited space wise. They also take reservations 1 year out like Albion. So make sure to reserve for next year while at the tourney, I plan to reserve for next year on that Thursday. If we all reserve early we can get the whole entire campground for next year... party on! :smt001

There's also campgrounds at Stillwater Cove and Gerstle Cove...but I'm not sure of their exact names.

thanks for the heads up on so many options Rock Hopper :smt002 I'm sure others will see those ideas on here and be helped..
...neither me or Amy know that area at all...adventures ahead

I think the Gualala campground is closed in November isn't it? If anyone has different info...let us know...rather stay there than KOA.
-
Sorry I guess only the Sonoma County park is available for camping
-
No res needed for Ocean Cove and less $$ for site. I'm on wait list for ABCamp. If I get a spot, it's open to share.
-
Woodside and Salt Point state park campgrounds are I believe are a bit closer than OC and possibly discounted in November.
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=453
But if you happen to bring a sleeping bag, and happen to fall asleep on the beach... I'll have fresh coffee and irishman at site #24. :smt003

Also here is a link to Anchor Bay businesses type directory with food, rental cottages, rental houses, local inn, etc. This might help someone maybe looking for non-camping accommodations or just some local Thai food or Coffee while your there.

On the waiting list for the campground. Hope something opens up. What would be the next nearest campground?
-
Here's the ones Ive found...
- Salt Point State Park...south of AB Camp
- Ocean Cove Campground...south of Ab Camp
- Manchester KOA...north of AB camp
-
Thanks I will check all of those out. If anybody cancels please let me know. Would love for my family to be at the campground and not have to wake them up come tourney morning.
-
Does anyone have room for one more tent camper ? is anyone staying at a different campground ?
Thanks,
Tim

Just got off the phone with reservations, they say it is open unless it floods ( which has only happened once or twice )
Go to GUALALA POINT CAMPGROUND
Reservations (707) 565-2267 or
www.sonomacountyparks.org/camping
If you click on check availability and then on a site it gives you a picture and dimensions of the site.

Soooo... google map Redding to Gualala, any thoughts on this route. I've been on Mountain View rd. and know its a bitch but I don't see any other good alternatives. :smt012

This route is only a 20 minute longer drive. Hard to believe.

Choices..Choices...none of them good. The shorter scenic ( twisty route ) or the long boring I5 / 505 /37/ 101 route :smt012

Fisheducator, if you like your breaks and lunch, take either 20 into Ft Bragg or the long way down to 101-healdsburg-gurneville,hwy 1 and back up. MTN View Road heading west will fry your brakes. at least it did mine the one time I took it :(

Yeah thanks, I made the mistake of taking that road ONCE with a cabover camper and almost ended up in the ocean at Manchester :smt012
-
I will be in site 58 fri, sat.See you guy's there.
-
We're coming from Eureka… Not sure which road we're going to take… I'll be pulling pop up trailer. I'm thinking about leaving the trailer and just getting a hotel room after hearing your stories about the road. :smt009

just take 20 over to Ft Bragg and come down from there on 1, I pull my pop-up on 1 all the time.

I drive over that in my motorhome with my kayak trailer loaded. If you know how to do it your brakes will be fine.

Depends on the vehicle also, I was being good and still had both feet on the brakes at Hwy 1...was told to not set the parking brake at the KOA campground or they would warp... BTY, this was a 74" Chevy 3/4 ton, non diesel
-
It's not about being good, or going slow. It is how you actually drive the vehicle and actually use the brakes. Low gear, do NOT drag the brake at all. Brake hard, fast and almost come to stop, then release and let compression slow you till you need to brake hard again. As you let compression take over the brakes will cool enough to work at the next hard braking. Until you actually learn to do it and practice you will overheat brakes on hills. I tow a 10,000 pound trailer behind my gas powered 13,000 lb motorhome. Never had braking problems even down the steepest of hills. Yes the trailer has brakes, but done wrong they won't help out either.
-
Thanks for the advice Rob, I'll give it a try.
-
Looks like I may have room to share on Sat night. Anyone need a place to park?
-
Yeah, I do...will send PM
-
Anybody staying at gualala point campground? Looks like there is room?
-
Crap checked the wrong date....
-
They don't take reservations within 10 days of your visit. You can call them to see if they have sites, but the last time I looked there was only 2 sites booked and they have at least one first come first serve campsite, I also did not want to pay the reservation fee. I will be there Fri. night if someone wants to share a site to keep costs down.

Hey everybody,
I'm headed up to my house at Timber Cove on Thursday afternoon. I will stay until Sunday afternoon. Anybody that wants to crash at my house is welcome. There is plenty of floor space for sleeping bags and lots of cool spots for a tent outside in the redwoods. PM me for directions before I'm out of cell range on Thursday.
Anchor Bay is about 30 min. north.
Sincerely,
Don
-
You're a very good man Don, thanks for the heads up!
-
I have an opening again Sat night. Anyone?

Bummer you can't make it Kiet. We'll make good use of your campsite! Thanks bro.

Since Kiet so graciously gifted me his campsite for the entire weekend, I will in turn donate my campsite #28 for SATURDAY ONLY to anyone that want it. So anyone still on the fence about going up there Saturday will have a place to crash.
