Question regarding Rule #8
Does this mean only video is accepted for lingcod?
I would prefer to release, and do not care about C&R Bonus.
Will a picture be acceptable?
Not buying a new camera just for a C&R Bonus.

Here's my understanding,
As its stated, i can either bring in (kill) fish im not wanting to have,
Or buy a camera I don't think ill use.
Or enter a tournament I'm not able to score in

Able?...

I think you're saying your preference is to release, but it also appears that you've noted that there will be no points granted for photos.  On top of that, you don't want to do video.  I hear you, but the rules stand as written.  I'd suggest that the best idea would be to get teammates with cameras capable of video - aren't all cameras capable of video at this point?

I don't offer this to anyone anymore as a policy, but you are welcome to be on my team, Eric, and I'll video your caught and released lingcod - you'll only get points for one over 30" though, so if you catch a couple others that you'd like to score then please keep them and gift them to me and my family - we'll make sure they're eaten and appreciated.   :smt001

Regarding the rule for catch and release, I've had years of experience with this now - I'm trying to refine it to fit my desired mode.  To allow people to use a photograph as evidence that they took good care of a fish is no longer adequate for me.  I want video because I know from personal experience that showing all the action, being ready for the criticism, committing to the level of care that will garner the respect and approval of my peers, and being happy at the end of the day with my own actions - it is all promoted and reinforced by the use of video.

Sorry you don't like it, and I'm happy to make the offers above to accommodate your needs.  The only prize to win is a guided trip anyway, and you've already got one coming.   :smt006

Thanks for the quick reply, and kind offer. Not upset either way, and appreciate the clarifying. The prizes have never been a concern for me, my prize has always been the time with friends and family ...
And of course, the shirt ...
Except that ugly orange and black one ;0)

Thanks for giving me a chance to explain it.   :smt008   :smt003

Also, regarding the bonus of 4 inches for a lingcod over 30" landed, clearly measured, and released in one video clip, this was available in last year's "Pro Division".  No one achieved it even though a few tried, and it was a very tough standard.  That's why it was Pro Division!   :smt005  This year, we're all in Pro Division.   :smt001

Seriously, I am glad to go away from past formats where lots and lots of rockfish were caught and released for points and upgrades, or lots were killed for points even if not really needed for the table.  Barotrauma and other C&R issues and the desire to show that we highly value the abundant and varied rockfish population at Shelter Cove have brought me to this format.  We will kill quite a few lingcod on game day.  Lingcod are actually one of the most easily managed stocks due to their younger maturing and spawning age compared to many rockfish, and I feel that lingcod can withstand a lot more handling than rockfish as well.

The thing about the video is this:  catching, measuring and releasing any fish on video is a cool experience - I recommend it to all and will do it with you on a trip very affordably if you choose.   :smt003  But check this out, catching a big fish on video, handling it carefully but with resolve and purpose, measuring it while doing your best not to hurt it, and releasing it to cap off the video - this is an amazing experience!  I want people to have that experience, and I want to reward those who will strive to create it.  They will reap their own rewards just by achieving the video.  Release of a big lingcod on video - it's worth the 4 inches, and it's not easy.

Hope that helps explain how I decided on the format.   :smt001

Just reserved my campsite.   Same site as last time.   Headin down Thursfay this time!  Wish I could stay longer!  Hopefully salmon season will open!
Are they reserving tent sites or only RV sites?

My site is an rv site.  Think the tent camping is like group camp, 25 per person.  Not 100% tho...

The orange and black one was the very best one obviously.  They should be orange and black every year, although as with most fans of orange and black every other year suits me just fine.

This is in writing, I expect to see you there. Last year I did part of it and Snapperhead did the majority.
