Looking to float back down to our campsites on Saturday. any info on the drift from Healdsburg to Mirabel campground. Most our heading down the drink cruise to Garberville but this year thinking about putting in above the campground and fish back down. How long a float from Healdsburg or where is a good put in spot I can get dropped off.
Thanks
JImbo

Just a thought...If you are drifting from Hlbg. to Forestville you will have to deal with the portage around the rubber dam below Wholer Bridge unless things are different this year. Having to drag your kayaks up some railroad tie steps and then put them on a cable cart  and then re-launch...it's a bitch. Cutting the trip short at Wholer is an option...bring your wheels as it's a roll up to the parking lot.

yeah the rubber damn went up last week, and the gate at wohler is locked for the season, so maybe a float down to guernville would be better option, cameron

Thanks with all the responses I think the best best might be to just paddle up the river to the dam and fish around there or might just end up doing the float down since the scenery is so nice in the summer!  :smt007

and getting better every weekend!

I'd join you Jimbo, but I'll be playing a softball tourney in Roseville. :smt010

Johnson's can be pretty awesome, but nothing like what I saw this weekend at zephyrs.  :smt007

Ha! That's random. I'm doing the Burkes canoe float on Saturday with a buddy from back in high school and some of his friends.

I'll be drinking   floating  down the river on Saturday . Camping right next to Burkes. Look for an Xfactor and give a shoot out. Good thing about the Xfactor is is can carry a lot of supplies for the trip down!
Later
Jimbo

- Good luck up in Roseville Chad. Can't play with the young guns anymore. The sport is way to fast for me nowadays.

Victor we are camping at Meribel right next store to Burke rentals. We have the group spot this year which is really nice for the kids.

I've done the trip in the winter for steelhead. I launched at Memorial Beach and took out at Steelhead Beach. It's a fun trip. You will need to portage the kayak below the dam ( you have to in the winter also) but its not that far. I had my Scrambler xt. Try throwing a super fluke jr(pearl) on a 1/8oz scrounger head. Smallies, half pounders, and huge hardmouth/squawfish will crush it. That's if your not to busy looking at the scenery  :smt004

Sweet I will have to try that spot. We are always looking for places that we can camp at on the River.
