I bought a 5 lb duck that I plan to cook for Thanksgiving and I've never done one before. So, I was wondering if anybody has an easy recipe that they'd recommend. I found this recipe online that seems to get good reviews:

That recipe will do but it's kinda vague and dumbed down.  There are much better recipes out there.

That one doesn't mention patting the skin dry with a towel or bringing it to room temperature, or using a thermometer, all of which I think are important.  You don't want to overcooked a nice duck.  Or worse, have wet rubbery skin.

Just cooked one last week.
Butterfly duck.
Rub with salt n Pepper
Rub with a bunch fresh rosemary.
Leave rosemary  bunch inside open body of duck and cook over indirect heat with skin side up.
When almost done flip upside down.

From my limited understanding and watching a couple of tv chefs prepare ducks, a little bit rare is ok
