DAMM piggybackers except this one was using my Yak as cover reached down to realease a small blue that LING darted out from under me damm near took off my thumb.. HOLY **#*! dropped that blue back down about FIVE ft and GULP there he goes strait to the bottom what a ride yee ha! eventually spit the fish damm wht a ride. Fish safe expect the unexpected... 

Should have had on your thumb hook glove, might of got him

Attack of the lingcod! Sure is a good thing they don't grow to prehistoric proportions, they'd put GWS to shame.

Some of the problems with fishing the high seas...there's always something trying to bite you or barf on you, or spine your fingers

Great advice. I've had about 5 or 6 and the only one I boated had a gopher RF that went in head first and locked itself in the mouth with the spines. I've seen a few that didn't strike that were bigger than my PB 36"er. Nothing livens up the day like a hitch hiker and glad the thumb is still intact.

 My last ling of the year was a hitchhiker, 36",25lbs.After I got it in the net I let the gopher go!
