My wife insists we get iPhones, and who am I to argue? It'll be a big upgrade from my current (extremely) dumb phone. Since I'll soon have the smartphone, I figure I have to use it on my kayak (mostly for GPS), and was trying to decide what case would work best. This one looks sweet, but pricey:

I'm wondering what NCKA'ers recommend. Thanks.

Lifeproof case worked great for mine when I WAS a fan of Apple.  After 2 years, the phone looked like it came out of the showroom case despite having been dropped in water, dust, dirt & thrown across a room into a rock wall.  Little $$ but worth it IMHO.  Would have bought one for my current phone but they are somewhat selective of the models they make them for.

Whatever you do don't get the Lifeproof....it's expensive and it sucked big time. I just went back to my Otter box.

It was expensive too.......thank god my work picked up the tab  :smt001

Otter Box looked good too at the time.  My LP case lasted about 1-1/2 years before it started to come apart.

Lifeproof got bought out by otter box a couple years ago.  Lifeproof went from "must have" to "complete garbage" shortly thereafter.

My lifeproof case worked great for a year+...then I lost the little yellow gasket, replaced it with a thick piece of rubber band.   Still worked.   Then I put a tempered glass screen protector on my phone and now it won't fit😠....who do I blame for that...lol

Guess I'm just gonna kick down and get a waterproof camera from Costco and throw the phone back in the dry box for emergencies.

I just bought the WP Fuji camera from Costco for my trip to Burning Man.  Worked pretty good. <end of threadjack>

I liked my Lifeproof Nuud a lot until the hatch for the charging port broke.  My family and I have tried a lot Lifeproof cases for most models but something is always breaking.

My WP Fuji has been great on the yak. Pretty decent pics and no worries about water be it mist, spray or a surprise bath. I've had pocket Canons and Nikons but they all got sick and died of moisture poisoning. Fuji is immune to the world of wet.

+1  Save my I-phone 6+ a couple times already this year!

I use a lifeproof case when on the water and a cheap "comfortable to use one". When not on the water.  I've also used a ziplock bag on the water.
