My advice (and it'll be hotly disputed here) is to buy a pedal kayak if you're just out to fish and don't care about getting a workout, etc. I've never known someone who bought a pedal kayak and was sorry. I've known 4 who bought paddle kayaks and upgraded to pedal within 6 months. My .02 :)
