Super cool haven't heard of catching squid yet and it would be nice to eat (kinda tired of rockfish).

What about octopus? I heard that people catch them by leaving jars on the bottom and pulling them up later. Anyone done that?

WSB sounds nice as well.....

We tried soaking live squid in the kelp beds but unfortunately, no ghosts to be found, though I know they're out there. A red tide was in the Cannery Row/harbor area today. Capitola wharf has some recent sea bass reports on the website. Caught some rock cod today on the squid, one nice size kelp cod. The squid are in about 80' of water, more or less, but they are moving quite a bit, chased by sealions mostly. Fried squid is the bomb, I think I like it more than fish... sometimes. I haven't tried the adobo yet but my friend Ernie was just telling me yesterday about how to make it. I plan on trying the recipe soon. Octopus can be caught on the squid jigs, Ernie caught a small one yesterday, I've never heard of the bottle traps, sounds interesting though. Talked to some albacore boats yesterday and today. Today was a decent/better day for some of those guys, hearing reports of 15-20 fish in the 20-30 lb. range. So that's the latest from the Monterey area.

I am up for laying in a vacuum-packed Winter supply of Calamari while dunking some for Ghost bait. Gotta plan a trip down to MBK in the next couple of weeks before they leave.
