Late Late post from August 2005.  I finally figured out how to get pics into my photo gallery with help from Sean.  That is such a fun trip.  I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to get into bluewater hunting.

Bigeyes gallery will make your eyes big too...awesome pics brother!  Since Dave is still figuring it out I'll give him a little more help...

Dave with a dinky WSB.  You really should be more selective with what you shoot...

Dave and Dr. Steve...

Jzumi.  Another incredibly nice guy that is heck on fish...

Beautiful pic entitled "a fishes worst nightmare"...

YOWZA YOWZA YOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smt051  :smt041  :smt051

How big is that WSB? It looks like 60...
I've never heard of a mediocre San Benitos trip. The Channel Islands and Cortez Banks are much less predictable. My 1st Channel Islands trip was a one-day that was a total bust - no pelagics taken at all. Then this June's 2-day trip was wide open for WSB. My friend Woody went on a 3 day trip at the end of August that never made it to Cortez 'cause of the rough water; they ended up with four 25# YT for the whole boat (luckily he got one of them).
Good eye Bigeye!

The scale said it was 42 lbs.  And yes all those yellows were shot.  That was the sum of one good morning for about 18 guys.  It is the most fun you can have killing yellows just about anywhere.  If you haven't seen "Blue" yet, you should watch it.  It will give you some idea of what San Benitos is like.  Great Boat and Crew  " The Horizon" out of H&M Landing in San Diego.  There are several shops in the area that put these trips together.  Marin Skin Diving, Wallins in San Carlos, and Bodega Dive shop.  I went with Marin Skin this year.  I have gone with Wallins about 5 times previously but this year David and Joyce Laird had twin girls so he didn't put a trip together.  We spent the day with them yesterday at the Lemo's Farm on 92 in HMB and then ate at Ono Hawaiin Grill.  Killer food and a lot of it.  David says he will probably put together a trip for next year if anyone is interested.

Hell yeah I'm interested.  I'm gonna start swimming and getting into diving shape right now as a matter of fact.  Is it a killer workout or it isn't so bad?  I'm a very competent open water swimmer, having done the alcatraz crossing multiple times.

Well, google owns it now so I'll post it.  Some of the guys on the trip put this video together while on course back to port.  It pretty much sums up the trip.  Highlights include fishing paddies on the way to the islands, lots'o'YT, Dave's WSB and pink toenails.
